Anyone who like “grounded by Louis Theroux” might also like the “happy place by fearne cotton” which is similar where she interviews celebs but with an emphasis on psychology and positivity, it’s a bit luvy but there are some good interviews in there. Often covering celebs struggles with mental illness, addiction and anxiety etc.
Personal taste of course, but that sounds like the most tragic listen I could imagine.Teddy Lop said:

Personal taste of course, but that sounds like the most tragic listen I could imagine. But as a counter-point, life is already hard enough without volunteering to spend any of it with Fearne Cotton.
Having watched a talk by David Spiegelhalter (Professor of the Public Understanding of Risk at Cambridge uni) on Covid stats the other week, we listened to the first episode of his podcast Risky Talk about communicating genetic risk. Interesting stuff if you have a passing interest in statistics or epidemiology.

I don't know who fearne cotton is or what his style is like but there's a lot of positivity in celebs lifting the lid and talking candidly about their issues, for others to appreciate you can have every measure of success and still suffer this st.
That’s exact what it’s about. I find it very interesting anyway.Pretty upbeat usually and great when running etc and obviously there are some episodes you might not be fussed about listening to.

Edited to add, that I'll admit that wasn't the most eloquent of responses, but has it really

..It's only Reddit (and my friend) saying its cancelled, but it has certainly ground to a halt.
Reply All podcast, episode #158, the case of the missing hit.
"A man in California is haunted by the memory of a pop song from his youth. He can remember the lyrics and the melody. But the song itself has vanished, completely scrubbed from the Internet"
It has a real wtf conclusion, but in a good way.

It's been covered before, I know, but 'We have ways of making you talk' is on great form at the moment. Recommended for WWII geeks.
I'm on episode 4 having read about it on here recently, and I absolutely love it!Far funnier than Gossipmongers so far, and it's a WW2 history podcast!
...aslo have to agree, I tried Gossipmongers.. WWII history is more entertaining.
They spent 5 minutes on the raid and 40 minutes showing off how much smarter they were compared to other historians.
Did I get a dud or is this their schtick?

I'd say a bit of both. They spent 5 minutes on the raid and 40 minutes showing off how much smarter they were compared to other historians.

James is a bit of a smart-arse, IMO, and they do occasionally get into a loop of demonstrating to each other that they know a lot.
But the subject matter makes it worth it, for me. I know exactly what you mean though, and some episodes are better than others for it. Best are the ones when they get someone on whom they defer to, and whom they let get on with it.
The We Have Ways podcast (as with many others) does go off on a tangent most of the time, so I don't think you can search out a single episode and expect to have it focus on what's in the title.
They both seem to have had plenty of time on their hands during the last few months so they've been pumping out the content, for good or ill.

I used to really like it but there’s loads of episodes now that I’ve half listened to or got bored and switched off mainly due to James making it all about him.
Just a heads u to anyone who is F1 interested, the Missed Apex Podcast is now classed as “utterly unlistenable” due to the hosts absolutely awful presenting style.
It’s always been there but it’s almost like they’ve told him to up the ante on his childish humour, pretend to be offensive to other guests and try and talk over you “usp”.
Remember the unfunny kids at school trying to be funny? This is it.

I don't mind it but it does depend a lot on who else they have on doing the race reviews, Spanners is consistently and unfunny bell end though and now he's been put on BBC local radio has got even worse. He's a dad trying to appeal to a younger audience with inane 'banter It’s always been there but it’s almost like they’ve told him to up the ante on his childish humour, pretend to be offensive to other guests and try and talk over you “usp”.

The episodes with Joe Saward are usually good though, I've got more time for him if he's allowed to actually go into detail.

I gave it another couple of eps and whilst not as bad, it was more of the same. For something 30 minutes long it just doesn't have enough meat. I've nuked it.
Any other WW2 podcasts you know of that are interesting?
