Films I watched this week (Vol 2)
Discussion
Just watched Pacific Rim: Uprising after picking it up cheap in HMV (yes I know).
Complete brain-out daftness, utter wanton destruction, and John Boyega doing a passing impression of Idris Elba.
Not the surprisingly good qualities of the first, but it kept me entertained (see the “what do you do on Sunday?” thread). Character development was irrelevant - I wanted robots kicking monsters’ arses.

Then I watched The Predator on Netflix. Meh.

The Foreigner on Netflix.
A recent Jackie Chan film set in London and Northern Ireland.
I didn’t know he still made films and had no awareness of this film whatsoever.
Predictable but exactly what you would want from a 60+ Jackie Chan, I forgave its shortcomings and really enjoyed it.
Pierce Brosnan as the sort of baddy.

Saw Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Very funny in places but as with Tarantino quite violent in others. Superb performances from Brad Pitt and Leonardo Di Caprio and especially Julia Butters as a young actor. Lots of decent 60's American motors on show. Well worth seeing. 9/10 from me.

A big ditto from me.Actually, I thought the violence was spot-on given the Sharon Tate involvement.
Even though I remember the story being in the news originally back in 69 I had to refresh my memory with good old Wikipedia.
Very nicely done. Actually had me thinking about the film, various points and aspects during the next day. That rarely happens!

The Predator, not Predator. They have been unable to make a decent one since the first sequel. As you were.

Just shows how people see things different.A fairly run-of-the-mill violent guns 'n' bad guys against one man.

One of the most original violent thrillers I’d seen in years.
Didn’t think there was anything run of the mill about it at all
