Whoever scripted the ...ahem ..'trial ' has never seen a criminal trial and never spoken to anybody who has . It was entertaining - suspension of disbelief and all that- but so far wrong on court process, procedure and rules it was also utterly absurd .
It’s entertainment, not a documentary!
It is possible to get it right and for the programme to still entertain. You can tick both boxes with a bit of effort.

Correct. It was pretty dire. For example, no barrister would let the witness behave like that when cross-examining.

Of course ; but it was so ludicrously inaccurate that it undermined the whole drama of the trial. It wasn't even nearly wrong !

It was particularly odd that the prosecution appeared to have access to the records of the defendants bank accounts, yet the defence seemed to be strangers to the information. Almost like the court case was fiction!

I always thought they brought in advisors for this type of thing? We all know it's fictional but would it really hurt to make it a little more accurate and representative of the real thing?

The very idea!

Craig was excruciating to watch in the witness box, good job it wasn't a murder trial in real life...lol!

Away from the farcical court case for a moment, I thought the Rita scenes with Norris were excellent. Some top class understated acting and very moving. Perhaps Will is at home watching for acting tips!.

So Andy writes a last letter to Steph. Like Phelan is going to ensure she gets that! Oh its OK because Andy can't even manage to swallow a few painkillers. Still he will have plenty of time to recover from his hangover.
How about Daniel suing for sexual harassment using Todd as his lawyer?

Yes indeed. He had a decent run as "Nice Phelan" but various turns of events have set him back considerably. The "Vinny's mum" story was a nice twist, but a bit unlikely. Meanwhile Daniel fills his boots, or something biggrin .

I'm all a bit at sea with the Andy/cellar story. Clearly Phelan lacks the bottle to finalise it all, but Andy's idea about a substitute hostage doesn't make any sense. Pat isn't getting his kicks from having a dungeon hostage - it's Andy he wants because he knows too much. What use would a sub have? (See what I did there? - sorry, you'd have to know about BDSM, not that I do, oh no, not me.......) Andy's plan is stupid - much more likely is "cuprabob"s idea of 2 hostages in the cellar. Pat would have to enlarge that hole he dug...............

(What's the betting Shona's money isn't there when she opens the safe - that Adam is one devious and greedy man).

Yes I loved the way Shona just hands over a bundle of cash! No receipt and no witnesses. So all Tod needs to do is say "What money, I have no idea what you are talking about".
Maybe Adam's law firm should turn to victim compensation claims given the potential for violence on the street. Shona's ex looks like he would make a good bouncer!

She's been in Doctors, Queer as Folk and Spooks, but I reckon you're thinking of the series of BT ads with Kris Marshall.

BTW Did anyone else think it was odd that she had her husband on her phonebook as Ross Watson rather than just Ross? Very formal marriage, that.

Did she partake in naked wrestling?

Nothing so sure as Adam is going to open the safe and suddenly the 6k. Surely Todd wouldn't be daft enough to put it in there......would he?

This "Andy" storyline goes from bad to worse,... so Phelan is sick of the responsibility of keeping him in the cellar for months on end, so just swaps Daniel for Andy....yeah, right....who writes this rubbish?

Some fine acting from Norris and Rita lately...well done.

I thought that was "Women in Love". She does some naked wrestling but not in the same vein as the scene you are thinking of.(or so I'm told!)
