I know I’m going to get shot down and pissed on but I’ve been finding the Fuelling Around podcasts a good listen. I know folk on here don’t like Plato but I always think he comes across well on the TV and Dave Vitty used to be a good on the radio, not so much these days though.

The chat with Steve Jones was better than I was expecting but the Maxi Jazz one was good too.

Just a heads u to anyone who is F1 interested, the Missed Apex Podcast is now classed as “utterly unlistenable” due to the hosts absolutely awful presenting style.

It’s always been there but it’s almost like they’ve told him to up the ante on his childish humour, pretend to be offensive to other guests and try and talk over you “usp”.

Remember the unfunny kids at school trying to be funny? This is it.
I don't mind it but it does depend a lot on who else they have on doing the race reviews, Spanners is consistently and unfunny bell end though and now he's been put on BBC local radio has got even worse. He's a dad trying to appeal to a younger audience with inane 'banter

The episodes with Joe Saward are usually good though, I've got more time for him if he's allowed to actually go into detail.
I think they look at the Top Gear of Clarkson/Hammond/May and want to emulate that, thinking it's what people want. I don't think it was, because under all of the bravado they didn't have to try to be friendly with each other, and the content was goood. This podcast though I've never ever found it engaging, and the style assaulted my ears.

100% agree, I've really enjoyed them, especially the Suzi Perry one. But I'm biased, as I adore her.

The Amy MacDonald one was interesting though. I'm going to keep an eye out for that Ferrari driving around Glasgow, just so I can slap a "Celtic 9-in-a-row" sticker on the back of it!

Yes Spanners is becoming an acquired taste, but Joe works well at controlling and guiding him. The episodes with Matthew Carter also give interesting insights from a different perspective, particularly the episode with Joe and Matthew together.

I agree - the episodes with industry people are pretty good, but I don't bother with the rest.

It’s a shame as a year or so ago they were my go to Monday race review listen. Now I mainly listen to Autosport for a race review and chequered flag for the more tabloid views and driver interviews.

Missed Apex is off the download. I still give it a chance every now and again but I find a good discussion Podcast is people you’d enjoy having a pint or dinner with while discussing the topic.

Can you imagine spending any time with that spanners bloke? You’d end up done for GBH.

The high performance podcast with jake Humphrey is pretty good.

Interviews with athletes and managers, coaches etc about (winning) psychology and behaviours of people at the top of their game. Some great interviews with people like Chris Hoy and Dina Asher Smith etc finding out what motivates them and the processes involved in their training and competing etc

Most episodes about an hour and reasonably inspiring if you’re trying to run up a hill or motivate yourself .

I'm on episode 4 having read about it on here recently, and I absolutely love it!

Far funnier than Gossipmongers so far, and it's a WW2 history podcast! hehe
Thanks for this one! Right up my Straza.. filling in my woeful education. Could listen to Al Murray waffle on about WWII all day long.

...aslo have to agree, I tried Gossipmongers.. WWII history is more entertaining.
I just listened to the episode on the raid on St Nazaire.

They spent 5 minutes on the raid and 40 minutes showing off how much smarter they were compared to other historians.

Did I get a dud or is this their schtick?
No they like to out shout each other with ww2 knowledge,
doesnt really work

The Race podcast is good for F1 stuff now, it's Edd Straw and a couple of the other ex Autosport fellas who all did that podcast before they left at the same time. I've taken Autosport off my download list now purely for the fact I enjoyed it more when Edd Straw did it anyway.

Plus they're doing a couple of really good spin offs also, one with Gary Anderson doing a look at some tech stuff and doing the Q&A thing, and they're doing a 90's F1 stories podcast called Bring Back V10's. First series was a really good listen, second series started last Thursday.

I have to believe he can't be like that in real life and is playing up to be some sort of presenter figure that he thinks is the right thing to do in his head. It says a lot they were having to ask for some positive comments on the apple reviews this last 2 weeks, it seems now they've gained more listeners more people find him annoying and are being vocal about it.... If you can't take the criticism then maybe a job in the media isn't for you really?

Matthew Carter is a genuinely interesting bloke, I'm surprised Sky don't have him on as a guest every month or so doing something.

On The Ground on BBC Sounds podcast

https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08n72kc

Journalists revisit the Iraq friendly fire incident when American pilots were accused of being "cowboys" https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Aptly titled, its also about the mental repercussions of being on the ground in war as well as journalists embedded on the ground with troops.

Loved that podcast and I have zero interest in football!
Eh wtf???

Edited to add, that I'll admit that wasn't the most eloquent of responses, but has it really frown

Now I've said it I'm not actually 100% sure its cancelled (sorry - was just going off what a friend told me!).. I've been wondering why they have not done anything since late May, then I heard Andy had been given a caution at that time:

https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-ne...

..It's only Reddit (and my friend) saying its cancelled, but it has certainly ground to a halt.
Thankfully my friend was wrong... Mince is back with a Parsnips episode, it went up last week... phew.

Can't wait to hear how Peter & Mrs Beardsley have coped with lockdown - I hope she got her 'boilers'.

Well Bob's health isn't what it was. Well, I think, it's been a while since Andy asked him about it. But with Covid I think they used to meet up and do the episodes, and the last two were over Zoom and it didn't work as well.

Glad it's not cancelled though, because let's face it. Gove has a face for kicking and there's plenty of us that'd do it for free.

Have I banged on about "Very Presidential" yet?

Christ! You think the current president of the US of A might be bad? How about banning all foreign trade? Well Thomas Jefferson did that one over 200 years ago. And that's after he hatched his plan to win the 1800 election when he was Vice President... by hiring people to trash the president (Adams)... I tell you it's mild stuff these days!

Jefferson approach? Deny any wrongdoing and let the next guy sort out the mess......

Entertainingly told series - yes, probably sensationalised and embellished a bit, but some great characters: Very Presidential

I enjoyed it from the point of the history but yet another podcast about a good story that finishes without a bloody ending. 10 episodes or whatever of earnest investigation. Conclusion: 'well, we don't know, but maybe...'. FFS.

Yeah they've really found their groove with it now. I found it a little forced to begin with but the last three or four have been very funny biggrin

Thanks also for the Motorsport podcast heads up as well, enjoyed a few of them today. Jaysus Patrick Head can talk though!

I'm a big fan too. I regularly find myself laughing out loud at them. I also tend to drift off to peruse the classifieds for a bit after listening to the latest S&S.

Anyone else listened to Have a Word with Adam Rowe & Dan Nightingale yet? I plugged it on here a while back and it continues to consistently deliver hilarious material.
