24 Hours in Police Custody: Ch4
Discussion
Can anyone please explain why, in the last episode of to catch a copper, the Chief Constable was able to chair a hearing on gross misconduct and it was her decision as to the outcome; whilst in earlier episodes everything not going to court went to the IOPC and the chief constable had no say in the outcome (e.g. sex in the police car).

The film was made by someone very sympathetic to "Stinson" to say the least.
I think the prosecution in Sam Miller's (i.e "Stinson Hunter") successful false imprisonment trial said it best; "The amateurs in this case, these defendants, cared as much, if not more, for self-publicity, notoriety and bullying others, as they did about stopping online offending.".
My bold. That is spot-on.I think the prosecution in Sam Miller's (i.e "Stinson Hunter") successful false imprisonment trial said it best; "The amateurs in this case, these defendants, cared as much, if not more, for self-publicity, notoriety and bullying others, as they did about stopping online offending.".

You could say the same for the police on any TV show, or any copper that wanted to catch one of the UK's many serial killers, they get fame and adulation and notoriety do they not?
Literally watching coppers chase down stolen cars and drunk drivers and talking to camera about it, not wildly different lust for notoriety is it?
Who cares so long as bad guys get caught......
And the clue as to the case, it was about false imprisonment, so i guess some peado argued that they held him in the house against his wishes.... the fact he was hoping to find some 13 year old in the house that he could abuse seems lost on the smug prosecutor's here....
Crazy who gets protection in these cases.....
But you lot crack on. If that puts you on some moral high ground then your welcome to that patch of hill...
EDIT TO ADD:
Just googled sam miller and you have the wrong bloke, that isn't Stintson Hunter...... so we aren't even talking about the same guy here..

And some nicely worded stuff from here https://www.cps.gov.uk/legal-guidance/online-child...
"Actions of the OCAG (online-child-abuse-activist-groups) member
OCAGs often film or live stream the confrontation of the suspect. It is likely that obtaining this footage is a reasonable line of enquiry as it may help build the case (e.g. it may include admissions made by the suspect) or may point away from a suspect’s guilt (e.g. show offences being committed by the OCAG). I just reported you for accusing me of defending child abusers. Hopefully you'll get a thread ban so we can go back to talking about telly.

Did i? Did i name you? I don't even know your name unless your name is hairykrishna.... and anyway you are defending them from being caught out by a sting by a civilian, so its not an accusation its a fact...I just reported you for accusing me of defending child abusers. "Ohh i reported you because you would like to see peado's killed or beaten..... what a nasty man..."

He's started a Paedophile Hunter thread in the TV section.
At least it's self contained there. It's started off with an angry post, and it'll descend into a competition for who hates 'them' the most, and how far you'd go to exact your justice else you clearly side with them and need to take a good look at yourself.Anyway I wouldn't recommend "Conviction: Murder in suburbia" or its "Murder at the station" counterpart. They're on Netflix but were BBC programmes so may well be on iPlayer.
An ex-journalist started a company which, on behalf of convicted criminals, re-opens their cases (in an unofficial capacity) to see if there are grounds for appeal.
The sleuthing was very amateur and I can only imagine it's worse than was actually screened. At one point she wanted the client (convict) to take a lie detector test...
It's funded through donations and they employ legal professionals so they take it seriously, it just didn't come across very professionally.
