The Mrs just had this on the tv. Cracking film about the bond between a mother and her young son, held captive in the ROOM.
Won't say anymore in case anyone goes on to watch it.

Solid 8/10
Yeah I also watched it last night, good film.

Today I watched Flight of the Intruder

I haven't seen it for years so it was good to see it again. The bit that really stood out was that cast, so many familiar faces! William Dafoe being fantastically odd as ever and it hasn't aged anything like as bad as most flying films, certainly aged better than Iron Eagle although that's maybe not a surprise.
The air combat sequences in Flight of the Intruder were and still are fantastic, in particular the ironhand / engine out sequence and the sam city attack run. " They'd ever expect us to go back " hehe

I know I'm a late comer for this film but we just watched Deadpool. Quite why we left it so long is a mystery. A bloody good entertaining romp.

Definitely an 8/10 for those who haven't watched it yet.

Enjoyed even more the second time. Lots of one liners easily missed the first time around.

The Lego Batman Movie

Not the entertaining laugh-fest I was expecting, and yes I did get all the references.

7/10

It's a very cheesy movie, but still one of my guilty pleasures. Going to dig out the DVD to watch tonight.

Watched The Hunt (Jagten) last night. Giving it a solid 9/10. The best movie I've watched this year by a country mile.

More foreign films need mentioned/reviewed on this thread imo! Like the gogo mamasan said to the pole dancers.... Keep em comin

I watched it for the second time on iPlayer on Saturday night. A very powerful film with a sinister ending. A tear was shed at the dog being killed and award for most brilliantly awkward scene ever has to be when Lucas picks Klara up at the end to carry her over the tiled floor.

I did find on second viewing you have to take a bit of a leap to accept the school, his friends and the entire village turn on him so quickly (and violently!). Makes you wonder if there had been previous questions about him for them to dismiss him so readily (the marriage break-down perhaps?).

xXx: <insert stupid title here> - the third one.

Chinese co-production and heavily targeted at that market. Made a lot of money there, utterly crap for anyone else, with a stupid story and rubbish effects.

0.01/10 - don't even waste the 20 minutes I gave it. The other two are masterpieces of cinema by comparison.

Watched Logan at the weekend....

I really enjoyed it, the closure of Wolverine/Logan was very well executed and nicely tied up the character.

However. (Not sure if this should go in as a spoiler, but I'll do it anyway)

1. What happened to all the Mutants? I thought Charles had accidentally killed them all with Cerebro, but I might have read that wrong
2. Why didn't the kids, while being chased, use their powers?
3. What happened to Laura's foot spike that came out once (I think) and was never seen again?

What I didn't like, in the end, was the fact that the trailers didn't tie in to the story itself - so some parts of the trailers that were knitted together, weren't actually related. That said, it was a solid 8/10.

Ah, I loved that film as a kid, and still like it now (and its on Netflix I believe). If you like your aircraft movies, and don't mind similar levels of cheese, check out the French movie Sky Fighters. Crappy storyline but has some stunning flight sequences in. ( In fact here they all are, someone has compiled them into a video https://youtu.be/5mr6LPVwxRw )

I thought it was good, not great, but good. I thought the ending was quite weak. I'd say 6.5/10.

That's not my interpretation at all. He resides in a close knit community who, by my own experience growing up in one, would most definitely act like this and make the person an outcast in order to manage-him-out of their community. It's not out of the question.

I think it was also highlighting how hyper sensitive and hysterical parents can get and even though the facts being presented were grossly inaccurate... The mud still sticks.

Almost like a complete denial of their own antisocial behaviour towards an innocent man. It's the very irony of their so-called Christian community.

I'll leave it at that so as not to spoil it.

Literally just got back from watching this.

1. Dunno. Not seen any of the other films.
2. They did.
3. It made an appearance in the final battle.

Agree with that. It's one of those films that stays with you for a while afterwards as you mull over what's happened.
Recommended.

Saw Kong, Skull Island in 3D earlier today. Was a very enjoyable 2 hour film. A typical Samuel L Jackson performance. I would give it 6/10.

Sunshine

After a Danny Boyle discussion at work I watched this again for the first time in around 5 years.

Really great stuff which slightly decends into "Monster Of The Week" at the end. Still a stunning spectacle and hasn´t aged at all.

A solid 8/10

went to a special showing of Moon last night in Aberdeen,

I hadnt heard anything about it, other than it was great.

I was not disappointed.

Sam Rockwell is a massively underrated actor,

5/7 - up there with Tremors.
