I reckon Gary isn't dead ... he's playing a game to get back at Phelan
That was my first thought too!
How about Gary left his St Christopher near a colleague who's been killed. Gary gets passport made up in colleague's name, comes back and finishes Phelan off with the 4x2 and runs off to Oz with Nicola. Job done!

Gary has teamed up with Becky, who is now in Strikeback. They are going to return to Corrie to sort out Phelan, who is actually an arms dealer.

I'd leave Gail in the wardrobe with a blanket over her head - an ET lookalike. I'd rather "have" Audrey.

Can't think why, but it feels like 1974 all over again. And it was bad enough first time round....

We were thinking that its not the end of Gary as it was a pretty abrupt "goodbye" for a long standing character. They should have built it up like he was leaving.

I think that's the biggest clue that Gary isn't dead.

If he needed to be disposed of abruptly (like Todd) the current story-line would work. However, there's no way he'd go like that under normal circumstances and the writers would milk the opportunity with a bigger story-line.

Having said that, I did always think the Ukraine job was a way to get rid of Gary. The way he walks about the street is enough to make me want to get rid of him.

I still Don't remember why or how they wrote his dad out of the show. One minute He's there, then he was just gone

He drove off to Manchester Airport to visit Katy in Portugal. It was him that relayed the news of Katy's death to Izzy, so he could make a comeback sometime.

So many disposable characters. Remember Eileen's ex, the fireman? Can't remember his name but he left the show in a cloud of indifference, too.

Katy is Owen's daughter, as is Izzy.

Owen is not Gary's Dad. His father is Eddie Windass
