Not mentioned so far, but are we aware Bear is a proper god botherer?

Not that it's an issue, I like his stuff, and agree that it needs to be seen primarily as entertainment.
I had heard that he likes to bash the bishop.

You only have to look at the tubby man Ray, he eats forests and still manages to keep the weight on!
Definitely better to be stuck with Ray as he looks like he could sniff out a McDonalds from hundreds of miles away!

A night out with Bear will NOT end up with a beer and a ruby....

Is there a point to your post or are you just using it as a way to belittle Bear Grylls' achievements?
Yeah, the man gets overly dramatic and fabricates the odd thing, but theres no denying that he does some pretty dangerous and adventurous stuff that needs big cahoonas.

Or, more importantly, make it down safely after bagging the summit?

They wandered off to find a camel to sleep in and got lost.

He sells TV. He does that well.

He makes a living from it. He does that well.

Would I eat a live octopus in a survival situation, no, I would cook it, would Bear? No, he would cook it. What gets people watching more, eating a live one that clings to your throat, or sitting by a camp fire?

As likeable as Ray is, there's a reason he's not as wealthy as Bear.

Sensationalism sells.

I was quite partial to his American show about extreme scenarios.

He was at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham last week and I did want to go but tickets were £40 each regardless of where you sat. I wasn't prepared to pay £80 for me and my girlfriend.

What does he do while he is on tour? A lecture about his experiences or does he do other things?

He has a squadron of trained attack pigeons who do some close-formation stuff, then zoom out of the auditorium and come back 30 minutes later with 8 French-dressed house cats roasted on a UHF aerial.

Bear then ignores the delicious cats and bites the head off the last pigeon.

The curtain call is a short, semi-naked ballet demonstration evoking bull-fighting but featuring an exhausted crocodile and a burgundy cagoule.

At all points in the show, Bear is following a cameraman who is doing exactly the same thing he is, but backwards and one-handed.
