There are bad bits, and expensive bits, and the expensive bits aren't very good.

Seems like a decent bloke, and I like the way he presents his programmes.

Sadly, I was reading in the Times that he's getting fed up with it all (including racing) and just wants to go back to fixing trucks.

Agree with most that's been said. Thoroughly enjoyable series, interesting and not obviously dumbed-down.

Won't be going to India any time soon, and even the Mrs who wanted to visit Goa has changed her mind.

Hope they record and televise the Goa to Grimsby trip but can't see it happening given his comments in the Times on Saturday.

I must admit, I felt a bit twitchy watching the footage from the tower "spire".

Is it even possible these days? Going all the way through China, Khazakstan, Russia is a long way round to avoid all the dodgy places.

Think I'd rather take my chances with Pakistan, Iran & Turkey than the three you mention!

Might need a few boats/planes. But that'd be a proper way around....

You should get over to advrider.com to see the crazy journeys that people are going on.

Really enjoyed this, much more than the 1st. It would be a seriously interesting road trip on a royally oily. Shades of Ted Simon and Jupiter's Travels, he's maybe nuts enough to do it as well.
The fact it's not over produced makes it even more enjoyable.

Spent time in India working on movies and enjoyed this as it's a honest account of the India I saw, crazy place!

TV however can't fully convey the dirt, smells and heat/humidity of India.

If you change the google maps options from driving to walking it says it can be done in 1,869 h, Royal Enfield pace smile

click details for a breakdown of the journey and zoom in on the map for the route.

... it occurred to me at the end that the whole programme was "sponsored" / funded by Royal Enfield ?? as he rode their bike and partook in their race at the end also ??

... although I could be wrong...

Maybe a KTM would have been less in-keeping? Bmw sponsored Long Way About and sold thousands of bikes off the back of it.
