Watched the German one yesterday and just finished the Italian episode a moment ago.

Enjoying it; very similar to one of James Mays car programmes, but that's no bad thing. I dont watch the baking thing so haven't seen much with Hollywood before - he's good in this. Also anything featuring a Wartburg's a win from me.

Disappointing lack of Lancia's in the Italian one though.

Watching the German episode on iplayer and I prefer it to the Italian one. 50 euros biggrin

I still don't gel with Hollywood. Think it's the accent.

Repeat just starting now on 2.

Meant to mention before ,Autostadt isn't all that ,the VW museum across the other side of river is way better and cheaper to go into.

Like the first I found it enjoyable viewing and have no problem with the host. He's obviously very genuine in his passion for cars and motorsport.

I think it was May's 'Car of the People' series that had the Fiat test track on the factory roof.

I've only watched the German one but will go back and watch the rest. I enjoyed it and liked his style, sometimes in these "celeb" fronted shows the presenter's personality overshadows the core material I didn't feel this happened with PH

It was & I think that they re-used some of the same archive footage... and (pretty sure) they also featured a 500.

I'll say! A mate owned one. Great car, but the middle of the roof went rusty under the paint when it was a couple of years old. eek

They didn't all conform to the cliche - my first , a 1.3Ti , never rusted and was as reliable as anything I owned until I bought a Golf GTi .It wa sslo the best handling car I have ever owned apart from my Sevens My second Alfasud never rusted but as anything that could go wrong did so in the first 12months of ownership I got shut as soon as I could .....

I think the new Top Gear missed a trick
I think it missed quite a few tricks to be honest.

Enjoying Paul Hollywood though, looking forward to the French one.

i think its a brilliant mini series however i think that the quality of it is more due to the writing and production. PH is very decent but i dont think he is key.

i dont think its fair to draw very direct comparisons with TG as its a very different show with a limited scope. Another series with new destinations would be extremely welcome.

Enjoyed that episode and the series as a whole.

Spent many hours driving across France in the back of an identical Espace in the late '80's.

Hopefully the series will get another, longer run - get Hollywood to Russia.

Or, as the Germans say, "Englisches Wetter".

A great series. Really enjoyed all three programmes. PH came over very well and is certainly enthusiastic about his cars.

A good series which I'd have liked to be longer (maybe 2-3 parts for each country, especially Germany and Italy)

Can't remember the last time I saw a Matra-Simca Bagheera at a car show let alone on the TV (the orange car outside Pescarolo's place), shame he didn't point it out as being a sporty looking car never mind it's 3 abreast seating...
