What made Shameless great was the fact that, despite the appalling depravity, the family was held together by love and the kids would do anything for each other. Most of the children have gone now and the focus has moved to a large extent to the Maguires. In the first few series there is no way you would have had major characters murdering a loan shark. It has lost its soul and become a comedy drama - watchable, but it doesn't tug at the heart strings in the way it did when it was great.

hehe Completely forgot about this thread. Glad it's back, even though it doesn't seem as good to me. Hopefully it will be back to it's best tonight smile

I'm all caught up now.

Although Mrs Doyle camel toe last night was a step too far.

Excellent, just excellent stuff.

There are more dodgy Shameless episodes these days but that was the best one in a while I think.

Maybe they can't think of original stories for kids to be involved in. They've moved on to drug dealers and now they are bringing in characters that are trying to better themselves (the trainee teacher, Chesney's tasty cousin, and Mrs Doyle(sort of)) to keep it fresh.

That looks terrible. It looks like they tried to do grotty but still ended up with a family of pretty people living in a mansion.

Agreed... it looks shocking.

It's like they've been given a checklist that says "Alcoholic dad, gay son, bright daughter, enterprising son, scheming daughter, baby. Fill in the blanks"

Of course it looks like anything the yanks copy from us - look at Red Dwarf and The Office for two. US TG isn't that bad, but three out of four is a pretty ste statistic!
