I still have this Thunderbirds/Captain Scarlet record and remember it being bought around 1971 in a shop in Stratford for me.
Can't remember the Thunderbirds story as I found them boring, but the Captain Scarlet one has him being blown up on an atomic passenger plane.

The bomb was set to explode when the plane lowered the landing gear. The Hood set the bomb because knew International Rescue would be there to save the day, and that's when he'd take his pictures.
And the plane landed on the 3 cars all being driven by one man.
The episode even has a bomb disposal expert doing an air-to-air transfer.
Utterly brilliant.

Gerry Anderson had difficulty coming to terms with the fact that he was making puppet shows for children's television, but the stuff he and his team pulled off really was top class.

I remember reading an article about Gerry when he was approached by Lord Grade (I think?) who said that unfortunately puppet just could cut it anymore, and he would have to start making live action tv, which he did with Space 1999, and he was absolutely delighted because that was what he wanted all along.techiedave said:
UFO was very adult.
I have the boxset and its surprising just how dark it is
I had a little catch up on Space 1999 a while back (they're all on youtube iirc). Still as entertaining as ever. And I recall seeing a lot, if not all of UFO on youtube as well. I like the idea of something a little darker.I have the boxset and its surprising just how dark it is
