Guys, for those who don't know about Retropower, they do a weekly YouTube workshop status. You must go and look, awesome stuff, make Gobbly look utterly juvenile and stupid. Latest screening https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gFowp6i9fc&t=...
Thanks for the heads-up. A proper car build showsgtBerbatov said:
I only watched 5 minutes of it this morning on Quest, where they had a Series 2 Land Rover, and they were on about slamming it.
With ideas that bright, it's no wonder they blocked you when you ask actual, meaningful questions.
Seem to be re running these. First one I saw was earlier this week, the Escort, bring it in and crash it...With ideas that bright, it's no wonder they blocked you when you ask actual, meaningful questions.
Watched them destroy a perfectly acceptable Landie
TBH the whole programme is too much talking rather than doing, know it's made for TV but it's juvenile. The bike bits are the best bits (just).
Can't watch any more,

Just watched their new show, Goblin Mod Shop on Discovery +, and it wasn't too bad. They are still annoying, but the car, a mk1 Fiesta, was pretty good. It needed wider wheels (probably RS) and a front bumper, but otherwise surprisingly ok.
Is this subscription (paying.....) only?SydneyBridge said:

Goblin Works Mod Shop
By the looks of the trailers, they appear to take "viewers" cars, cover them in glue, drive them through one of those 'Cheap Tat' shops you see at the seaside, and then give them back to the 'viewer' to rapturous self congratulation.
No doubt along the way, there will be lots of sitting around having meaningful design discussions, massive over-use of the word 'Artisan', and bog all actual work being done on the car.

On the plus they make Wheeler Dealer seem far better by comparison and no shortage of those on catchup tv. etc
Wheeler Dealers does at least try to be educational instead of just killing your brain. One day they might even learn to clean all the crap off the cars before starting, though then it'd be even more obvious how much rust they ignore...JoshSm said:

You forgot the re-use of rusty screws and bolts. Really weird, as I'm sure I've seen a small blaster cabinet in the background. If you schedule your work carefully, get all your bits ready late afternoon, blast them, paint them, go home. Next morning, clean painted bits, no time lost either. That was always my technique, worked perfectly.
I like your thinking Sorry if this has already been a post, but just watched an episode where they go to US and turn a terrible VW bus into a “drag bus”.
First thing at a place called “Subi Swaps” they install a WRX engine ( without turbo and intercooler I think), while simultaneously sanding down the body work. ( because it has to be done in 7 days to add some tension).
Continue sanding while fitting new brakes and other parts that always benefit from a liberal coating of dust.
Start up new engine, leaks everywhere due to radiator caps not tightened ( they were mounted on their sides).
Eventually get it going to drive to a wrap shop an hours drive away. Engine destroys itself due to slipping timing belt. Amateurs! Anyway engine somehow gets rebuilt overnight and arrive at wrap shop where they drop everything to work on the bus. Paint has been sanded to several different layers , unfilled dents and rust holes just covered over. Looks ok at 50m.
Then they have to drive another few hours to Vegas, another breakdown with a loose clutch cable? ( aren’t clutches hydraulic?)
Bus gets roll cage to go on the drag strip and “massive wide tyres in the back.” Well they got 15 x 6.5 wheels , so not exactly F1.
Eventually get a couple of runs managing an underwhelming 17.5 sec at 75mph for the 1/4 mile.
On the basis of this they manage to sell the bus for $37k to a “VW fanatic”, who doesn’t even do a cursory inspection.
Complete garbage from start to finish.
