Clarkson’s Farm

Anyone know how much it costs to hire a combine for the day?
We charge per hectare rather than per day. Varies between €175-€200 per hectare depending on the total area to be harvested and distance between fields. Worth mentioning that I'm in Belgium and that both the farm and field size are a lot smaller than the UK and we spend a lot more time moving between fields than you would in the UK. One of our machines can do 2-3 ha per hour (about 7 acres per hour).I would expect the average combine to do at least 750 ha in the UK, maybe more. I can only dream of that - I'm running about 200 ha per machine.
Hi all,
Just an update for those who are interested.
Kaleb and Gerald are not related.
Simon the combine owner/driver or strongy as we know him owns the farm next to clarksons.
Gerald (who I know very well) worked for strongy as a farm labourer for the last 25 +years
The fields in the Cotswolds are not much larger than the ones you would find in Belgium as most are surrounded by drystone walls.
And yes the traffic has been a nightmare but I think a few people are going into the village to use the shop/cafe/pub so it’s a win for me (as a local there are many ways to avoid the traffic)

Gerald's lips don't match the sounds, and at the final round-up at the end of Ep8, and during bits of the harvest, he was quite understandable.
Some audio trickery going on there.
Otherwise, brilliant. Surprised they didn't show any pest probllems/control, but then that would probably be a big red flag for sensitive viewers.
