Presumably why Stephen Dorf’s character was walking with a pronounced limp at the end of on scene in the 90s?

I remarked on that to my wife, but didn’t link it the Claymore mine, perhaps you’re right.
Staying on Claymores, you’ll notice that they bear the instruction, Front Toward Enemy.
My eldest, when he was in the army, said that this was inscribed in case they were bought by the Irish army, evil little git.

Just watched ep 1 & 2. Liking it so far. I'm glad its back at its roots of s1. S2 wasnt terrible but wasnt exactly good either, it was too expansive. I like the small town claustrophobia of s1 and s3.

Don't recognise the lead actor but he is exceptional. However, neither of them can match Harrelson or McConaughey. I think S1 was probaly their best work ever, especially McConaughey.

I haven't watched S3 yet, but I agree that S1 was a top show. My missus didn't look at her phone/iPad/laptop the whole time we watched it which, in my mind, is the mark of a great and gripping show. We will probably start S3 in the next few weeks and I'm looking forward to it.

It’s a tough one. As a stand alone mini series (which to be fair is how they should be assessed on individual merit) it’s good so far.

They almost outdid themselves on S1 though. A classic example of something being a victim of its own success. I just don’t see how they will ever live up to that in the future.

I also get the feeling they might be jumping between timelines a bit too often without providing enough engagement for the viewer in any one of those timelines and so to me, if feels a bit disjointed and clunky viewing at times.

I’m sure there will be some method in the madness though and it’ll gell towards the end as the pieces of the puzzle are put together.

yeah, I think that mirrors my feelings.
I'm glad of the large gap 'twixt S1 and S3. THere needs to be space so S1 doesn't loom too large over future series.

I haven't seen him in anything I've watched before, but he has an Oscar (for Moonlight, the film that wasn't La La Land at the Oscars) and a Golden Globe already, which is impressive enough for a relative unknown.

Which I think is also a good thing, in some ways. He's got the credit he deserves for what was no doubt a great performance, but we as the majority of viewers are less familiar with him (and Stephen Dorff) than we were with any of the leads in S1 and S2

Ep5 felt like a filler - storyline hasn't moved on. Still a good show but dragging before the reveal. Let's hope they don't wait until ep 8 to suddenly rush out the answers.

Yeah didn't move it on much at all. I was thinking by this point in S1 I think we had already come across the killer and not known. Wonder if that has happened here as well. I have my suspicions.

I get the twist that has been mentioned before on here but I feel it's becoming a little too obvious for that now.

Still enjoying it but yesterday's was a fking mumbly old episode wasn't it? Jesus, do we really need to make every cop mumble unintelligently all the time?!

There was one bit I rewound 3 times to hear what one of them had said. Still couldn't hear it.

It was Hoyt. The one who he went to see without telling his partner.

I had to rewind that several times...eventually I still didn't know but on my last attempt it filtered through!

Good episode! The shootout was bleak.
We reckon the cops killed the cousin?

Yep. The mysterious rich chicken boss who no one has seen yet and coincidentally whose granddaughter died and is around the same age as the missing girl Julie at the time of her disappearance. Was she kidnapped as a replacement perhaps due to an uncanny resemblance? Or could it be because it is his actual daughter....

"That man is not my father" said older Julie Purcell, when she saw her "dad" appeal on TV. Why would she deny his paternity? If you recall a scene after the funeral of her brother Will, the grandparents are emotional outside and the grandmother says something along the lines that hinted that the mother was a bit of a floozy and that Tom may not be the father. Could it be the uncle, Tom's brother? Or - and I am really thinking out loud here - since Lucy, Julie's mother worked at the Hoyt factory - could she have had an affair with the chicken boss and Julie is actually the daughter of Mr. Hoyt and was kidnapped to provide her "a better life"?

I thought maybe the father might not be the father, that'd be a double blow to the gut.
