'Polar Bears Making Love'

Good for Prime, offering something for everyone, no matter how niche their interests.

The Angels Share. I think it was Amazon not Netflix. Worth a watch if your bored.

Bit formulaic and twee (also slightly morally dubious) but it wasn't a totally wasted 90 mins. Well, I didn't turn it off anyway.

Into The Wild

Like a modern day Jeremiah Johnson (also on Prime).

A young man ventures into the Alaskan wilderness to live off the land. Very enjoyable.

I'm watching The Red Road. It was released as 12 hour long episodes in 2015, but I had never heard of it.

It's really quite good, and disappointing that it was cancelled after the 12 episodes.

But it's worth a watch for sure.

Ray Donovan.

Un-putdownable, pure television magic. Great actors, great script and production and wow how good is John Voight !

Am also re-watching the X-files biggrin

My 8 year old daughter also thinks 'Just add magic' is one of the best kids TV shows she has seen. Whomever they got to produce it must have been poached from Disney.

I have just watched S2 EP7 and I think its a very good series. Without spoiling, I think the scene with the 2 British chaps in the hotel room in Season 1 is comedy gold.

I'm way behind the curve on a lot of this stuff, but I really enjoyed Halt and Catch Fire. It is one of the best series I've ever watched. So well put together and excellent, excellent music choices as well. I was pleased to read there will be a Season 4, but a shame that it will be the concluding Season as well.

Really enjoying Ripper Street as well which is on there from Season 1. Massively behind the curve on that one - but it is very, very good. smile

Comrade detective.

It's pretending to be a Romanian Cold War cop show which is dubbed into English. Very amusing.

Pretty impressed with some of the movies Amazon pick up for Prime members now. Not masses of stuff but they tend to go for independent / critically acclaimed movies when picking new stuff up and seem to be getting them pretty quickly.

Arrival, Free State of Jones, I Daniel Blake, Train to Busan, Swiss Army Man etc. Not bad at all. I'd rather that than them putting all their eggs in the basket of one studio with a big exclusive deal or something. For movies they're much closer to Netflix now.

Now TV is still well ahead but as we have all 3 I'm very impressed with the stuff coming through on a regular basis.

Pawn Sacrifice.

Spiderman meets Ray Donovan, meets Fargo, meets The Magnificent Seven.

Okay, that's just the actors.

It's a movie about Bobby Fischer - the seriously dysfunctional / paranoid / PITA / genius chess player and the world championship against Spassky. "WW3 on a chessboard"

I found Tobey's acting a bit OTT but the film grew on me, as did Howard's music. I'd give it a solid 7/10

It will probably be better to those that are not old enough to know who won (sadly I am). It's difficult to imagine now how big this was at the time. Chess as a spectator sport for God's sake.

At least you can tell the Mrs. you've been watching a pawn movie.

Definitely behind the curve on this one, but finally watched the Pilot for Jean Claude Van Johnson at the weekend - loved it. Very funny at times (Go one at a time, you'll run into each other), well shot, and JCVD definitely seems able to take the mick out of himself.

Waiting for the rest of the season now, struggling to find a release date - anyone know when it is due?
