Just watched Roger Rabbit. What a great film! And really believable with the cartoon and real world merged. Hard to believe that it was made in 1988. Its graphically better than some CGI crapfests out today.

I looked into seeing of maybe they were making a remake of Roger Rabbit, which unfortunately they would use CGI, and they did im fact have an article about it but they said even though they did have a script ready to shoot it was cancelled and subsequently 'binnes for good, never to ne made'. Something about Warner Bros and Disney licensing blah blah blah that creates too much conflict. Stuff like that pisses me off. I mean come on, whats the problem!! Why cant the studio execs just come to proper terms and friggen make what IMO would be a real worthy blast from the past!

Patty cake.. Patty Cake.. PATTY CAKE!! PATTY CAKE!!! Hahahah NOT PATTY CAAAAAAKE!!! ANYTHING BUT PAAAATTY CAAAKE!!
lol, friggen classic!!

Or when he says something like, 'vodka on the rocks.. AND I MEAN ICE!!' and it gets served to him with actual rocks in the glass.
'...Toons!...'
Like the basis for most of the problems with the AMerican/Western/UK woes, greed beyond greed. Look at all these smashgrabs for franchises 'nbecause they make money'...no dheads, good films and good shared universes make money, not any old st thrown at the screen won't...unless the Chinese happen to like it...

A more worrisome future is the pandering to China, since a film in China banks the studios beyond any film in the US..hence we have an unending list of Transformers films to enjoy.

Tower Heist. 4/10. By the end, I was rooting for Alan Alda. Go on Hawkeye, stick it to that Focker.

You do think that the animators of Jessica were just having over the top gun though. The dirty perverts hehe
They edited out the little easter egg involving Jessica (a couple of frames in the car scene) once it was discovered.

Animators in general did have a habit of sneaking dirty little extras in to keep themselves entertained.

Free Fire

Cool update of Reservoir Dogs, less brutal and a lot more funny, kept to a tight 90 odd minutes, correctly as its essentially a one scene act

really enjoyed it and great characterization, especially Vern 8/10

Part of the charm of Who Framed Roger Rabbit was that it was all physical effects for the interaction between the live actors / environment, and the toons. There was a sense of "How on earth did they do that?!" in places which appeals. These days, with CGI so ubiquitous, it would probably be more like "meh, whatever".

Skull Island - it was ok in a 'go to island, get terrorised by monsters' type way. Save it for TV, not cinema

They tripled their sales after the first day, 2 more people went to see it so it's now taken £21 , not £7 hehe

I just put my new "2k" screen to the test with Gravity - Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in space. A nice simple script, fantastic visuals, and "dramatic" music so awful you can hear it in space. 7/10.

Ghost in the Shell

Watched this in IMAX 3d - WOW! That really was a feast for the eyes, quite spectacular. I loved it it. Quite a bleak vision of a possible future and I guess it does raise questions about tech and how we interact with it.
Saw this today = . not much of a plot but 3D , Sound and special effects were good. Enjoyed it more than i thought i would to be honest.

Anime/Blade Runner/Matrix all rolled into one.

Which is somewhat ironic considering the Wachowskis freely admit that The Matrix was heavily influenced by Ghost in the Shell. smile

Took my daughters to see Peppa Pig; My first cinema experience yesterday.
Basically 7 or 8 new episodes (they even left in the opening credits to each) joined together with a studio filmed live action "interactive" vignettes. The interactive part was the presenter asking the kids to shout out or dance etc..

Standard Peppa fare really despite some heavyweight cameos - Joe Brand - Ms Crocodile the Zoo Keeper and David Mitchell - Officer Panda the policeman.
Few movies can boast the queen using dialogue from the Italian job.

2 year old loved it, 6 year old and me very bored.

Only really suitable for very young children and those that won't mind literally every adult member of the audience being on their phone for the duration (except me of course)

I've been to Peppa Pig live. I would rather have put my face in a blender....

In the Night Garden live, however, was brilliant smile

I watched Hacksaw Ridge this weekend.
Two questions I'd like to ask;

1. Why didn't the Japanese simply cut down the rope ladder?
2. Why did Private Doss' colleagues leave him up there on his own instead of someone going up to help him? It seems they were happy to all wait at the bottom and collect the injured as they descended.

My daughter watched this as she's madly into anime and manga. I'm informed this is the 3rd version, at least, of this fillum. I'd watch it because of Scarlett, but....

My daughter said of the film on FB,
"Surprisingly well done western adaptation of a Japanese original hit! It's just a shame they couldn't incorporate the philosophical aspects of the franchise. But the main objection I had turned out to be a well-placed plot device.",
So, err, yeah... eat that Mark Kermode, etc. wink
