Do they think people interested in older cars are that vacuous?
No, it's for the general public, not the people that are actually interested in the cars. It's for the rest who make it possible for it to be on a higher-profile channel in prime time instead of on Quest mid-afternoon, and fill up the "live" show. In that regard it's like most of the other car-related commercial TV output. It irritates me too, and I record it for exactly the same reasons, so I can skip the pre-amble, the titles, the ad breaks, anything about bikes or tractors. I've given up getting annoyed about it.There are plenty of shows where there is an intro that is the same, that's why recording and then fast forward through this and adverts is so useful.
Also if there's a segment of no interest you can cut that though more often find something that's unexpectedly fascinating.
Takes all different types.

Exactly, I'm in it for the cars I find the most annoying bit about the show is the glimpse of a more interesting car in the background yet you never get to hear about it.
I’d go along with that, for example I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Porsche featured .I can’t say that I’m bothered by the “nestling under the North York Moors” shtick

That old Ambulance was just a waste of TV time - truly terrible.

I went there last year and was lucky enough to have a brief chat with Derek who struck me as a nice guy who still has a passion for what he has been doing for ages. Then I went to the Pickering site and spoke briefly to Dave who didn't seem quite as chilled.
If you like B&C but for some reason don't like Derek (I think he is a great character), then watch Heartbeat, where you can see all the cars and get a storyline as well. Maybe go to the car show.
