Trying very hard not to dislike Lucas - I just don't find him funny. I thought Sandy and Noel worked well together after not being sure at first, so will at least see how they develop.
Looks to be a good mix of contestants this year, so hopefully a good season. Not sure how the "bubbling" will impact the normal practice at home aspect - I imagine they will all do loads if they are off work and in the hotel, or will do none as they can't get into the kitchens etc.

I noticed in the first 5 minutes he just had to let everyone know he was a “homosexual”, Matt, give it a rest FFS, no one cares. I’ve never felt the need to just drop into conversation my sexual orientation, especially not when hosting a baking show.silobass said:
Loved the sketch at the beginning. "The printer is printing upside down again" had me in stitches
An enjoyable first episode. Not sure how Linda got out of that one.
I can't think of the last time I saw an intro to any show as good as that, and lets be honest, be as truthful as that.An enjoyable first episode. Not sure how Linda got out of that one.
So far 200 people with absolutely fk all else better for doing have complained to Ofcom specifically about the sketch.
As for the contestants, I think Sura's going to go a long way.
Makbul, I don't think, is able to take negative feedback about his baking.
Rowan won't win, but I bloody hope he does because I've never seen a man give less of a damn about screwing something up than he did.
I watched it and mostly enjoyed it - I will say, however, that the final showstoppers were disappointing in their overall quality. I know it's the first one, but it felt like it should have been better - I wonder if they're feeling the strain of not having their own home and kitchen in which to practice.
Also, the "accidental" knocking off of the upsidedown cake? Hmm...

As usual they have the obese contestant on to tick that box. Funny how they never seem to have an anorexic one but I guess that isn't as 'celebrated' as much even though both extremes are bad for your health.
How many fanatical about baking anorexic people do you imagine there to be. You know, in comparison to obese ones...KTF said:

If 2020 has taught me one thing, it's that the PH forum's are really starting to resemble the comments section on the Daily Fail website. Edited by sgtBerbatov on Wednesday 23 September 16:05

At least he didn't say he was the only gay in the village, because he clearly wasn't.KTF said:

Steph Blackwell who was a runner up in the final last year had issues with eating disorders and has posted a lot about her problems since the show aired last yearsgtBerbatov said:

Anyway, I thought the Matt/Noel combo worked really well and have high hopes for this series.
I liked Lucas, despite initial reservations.
Got to say though, those final cakes were incredibly poor for 12 bakers that had presumably gone through auditions to get on that show. I know many amateur cake makers who have knocked up character cakes that were so much better.
I'm no baker, but very few of them could even roll icing without cracks and poor joins, only the lady who did Lupita Nyong'o had some skill with her icing.
