Flight of the navigator has just started on SyFy. Put it on, should be a nice blast from the past!

Galaxy Quest (1999)

Brain out silly Sci-Fi comedy. NIce cast. Quite amusing in places.

Alan Rickman rolling his eyes for England.
Sigourney Weaver busting out all over.
One of those films for repeat watching. smile

Hunt for the Wilderpeople is on Film 4 at 9pm tonight. Im lead to believe it’s a very funny Kiwi comedy with Sam Neill & the kid who also turned up in Deadpool 2.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

What a bizarre movie. No really plot to speak of, mostly people driving around in cars in the sun, a bat-st insane last 30 minutes, a wasted Margot Robbie, looks very nice but it’s kind of dull unless you’re a fan of sixties Hollywood. Also carries less significance if you’re not aware of a particular historical event in Hollywood.

Maybe it’s an age thing but I didn’t get it.
For it to work you need to know the history, that way the build up really works otherwise the suspense element is lost

I knew the history, it's just as dull and pointless even with that knowledge.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe - a father/son coroner team take delivery of a young woman's body, and spooky stuff start occurring. Creepy and claustrophobic horror that manages to get a lot of tension just from lingering shot's of a dead body. Apparently most scenes were done with a real actress, which did make me think how hard it must have been to literally not act at all.

Presumably you watched the entire movie in order to reach that conclusion?

For what it’s worth, I watched Once Upon a Time In Hollywood when it first came out and thought it was brilliant. I hadn’t filled myself in with Manson and the Sharon Tate murders before but relied on my memory so didn’t go in empty headed!

Read up about it afterwards and watched a few original clips on YouTube about the reporting and the case generally which was very much eye-opening and worthwhile.

We watched it on Amazon Prime this evening and my wife and I enjoyed it even more, bloody excellent!

Knives Out - Thoroughly (and unexpectedly) enjoyed this - perfect for a New Years Day after getting in at 6.00am in the morning from a long night out. Still couldn't help thinking "what's Bond doing in this?" at times, though.
Score: Only 1 fake knife in the pack of ten.

Ad Astra - as along as a spaceflight to Neptune if felt. Kept watching in the hope it would go somewhere, but it was, frankly, boring. I felt like it tried at times to have the '2001 - A Space Odyssey/Blade Runner' cinematic experience - and at times some of the scenes were good, but the film failed to deliver. No real explanation of the attempted kidnapping on the moon (one of the few bits of adrenaline-fuel in the movie), and in the end I was just waiting for it to finish.
Score: 4/8 planets (Pluto isn't a planet).
