Bone Tomahawk, I came across this by accident. It's a drama/horror starring Kurt Russell set in the wild west. I'd give it 7 scalpings out of 10

What’s the advert format….? Start/end of programmes, of add breaks during programs/films?

And, most importantly, can they be skipped / fast-forwarded through or are you forced to watch them?

So an extra £36 per year to get what we were paying for...

Not sure it is worth it TBH. Was £95, now £131, which is quite a hike. Imagine the outcry if the Licence Fee went up by more than 30%!

These things don't just pay for themselves...

I could understand if you are streaming a film they may have some control over you fast forwarding, but I wonder if that is programmed into the films you download to watch on a plane etc.

They have control over the player, so they can tell the player to disable the FF / skip forward functionality. Just like a DVD can tell a player to prevent you from skipping certain things (like that annoying "you wouldn't steal a car" ste)

For example, the Channl4 "All4" player prevents you from skipping adverts if you have a free account and forces you to watch them. When watching episodes of Robot Chicken the adverts are longer than the episode. And, also, it kept playing me the same advert again and again, back to back. I had to take out a month's premium just to get rid of them.

Anyway, I'm being a bit lazy here as I actually have Prime Video so I should really go find out myself and then report back. smile

When I rip my own DVDs I can select just the film and not the "you wouldn't steal a car" ste. hehe

I actually downloaded six films from Amazon a week ago for a long coach trip im going on. As I downloaded them before the adverts were introduced I wonder if they will have adverts in them.

Yes, same here. But I was using it as an example of how you can be prevented from skipping stuff.

Don’t know if it’s been said before but “This is Us” has been enjoyable thus far (first 3 episode season ).

I logged in to Prime last night to continue watching the series I was viewing (The Expanse) and was shortly confronted by a loud, tedious, annoying, unskippable advert. Prime subscription cancelled within 10 minutes and a refund for the unused months on its way.
It's like buying a first-class train ticket and being told half way through the journey by the guard to move to second class with all the screaming children, or pay again for what you've already bought.

My thoughts too, pretty poor from Amazon in my opinion

Cancelled too. I’ll will not pay NOT to watch adverts and I do not watch terrestrial TV because I can’t tolerate adverts.

It's amazing how much effort they're all putting in to ensuring the resurgence of piracy after music and tv subscription services pretty much killed it off 10 year or so back.

I can guarantee it was not Jeff that did this. In many ways Jeff was protecting us from his replacement.

An interesting development for me is that the Ads play over the film/TV show.

So if I click to start a new show or film, it starts to play and then after a second or so it switches to an advert. But the TV show keeps playing in the background. You can hear both sets of audio (ad and show) at the same time, and when the ad finishes the the film/show is a minute or two along. So i miss the first couple of minutes of anything I am trying to watch.

Utter garbage. They're making the ITVX app look like a quality bit of programming

I had an ad break appear mid sentence last night.
The actor was in full flow, tense scene and suddenly it's bloody red nose day.
Utter garbage
