Knives Out - Thoroughly (and unexpectedly) enjoyed this...
Indeed. Although I thought at any moment, he was going to ask for "Muz Munnypunny" to lend a hand.

My tongue in cheek remark. smile

Just to add, I enjoyed the quality acting, beautiful 1969 setting, the cars, oh the cars, great storyline, ( if you know about that time and what happened that year) and the twisted Tarantino ending which suited his style and the film beautifully.

For me it was a great film far removed from the sort of rubbish like John Wick.

Yes, technically good but not a great movie.

bohemian rhapsody

just didnt work for me - it picked up towards the end, but the rest of it was just broadstrokes of his life, yet, it was still over 2hours long!

Not for me either - it had the depth of a 2 hour long pop video

At last, after many years, I managed to sit down and watch The Apartment and after a poor Xmas tv schedule, this met all my expectations.
Black and white, filmed in the noir style of the time, with fast talking grade 1 Hollywood stars, Lemon, McClaine, MacMurray el aĺ, I asked myself why I have missed this film for so long.
8 door keys / 10 sleeping pills. Brilliant.

It had been shown along with Some Like it Hot, but seen that before, another top quality film and Christmas pud beckoned.

Was this the best BBC could find although no complaints from me.

I finally got round to watching Ford V Ferrari (or Le Mans 66 as I think it's called in the UK). What a great film - really enjoyed it! Don't know what took me so long!

Probably why it was so popular.

It wasn't meant to be a documentary but at the same time it feels detailed enough to be a faithful retelling of the whole story.

If you research what the film did and didn't get right, I think they got the balance just right.

Enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody more then Rocketman. Maybe it’s because I’ve always preferred Queen to EJ but I think I enjoyed it more as a film generally.

Back to Yesterday, It seems to be knocked by many but again possibly because it was my era I thought it was excellent and the music was absolutely superb.

Just watched JoJo Rabbit. Standard plot with a really good dose of humour throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Fascinating. Frustrating. Sad. Shocking. Unbelievable.

I would encourage people to watch it.

Having listened to a podcast about the real life case the other day I watched Zodiac yesterday. Not knowing about the murders before I found it very interesting, scary to have a serial killer with no real MO, just liked killing random people.

The movie itself was good but waayyy too long, could easily have lost 40 minutes. 7/10

And in preparation for Le Mans ‘66 tomorrow night, I watched Le Mans again today on it’s amazing Blu-ray remaster. Great film but it still amazes me how little dialogue there is in it. The in car footage is mind blowing for that time too. 8/10

The thing that always amazes me about Le Mans, and indeed F1 of that era too, is that the pits are just a layby off the main straight. It's like changing a wheel when on the hard shoulder of a busy motorway! Utterly bonkers, yet considered perfectly normal back then. eek

Watching it now, about half way through. It's not bad, it has a certain charm. Ferris Buellers day off recorded the other night next!

The same goes for the cars. Beautiful as they are the 917 was a truly horrible car to drive for 24 hours by all accounts. Fumes from the glass fibre and the fuel plus the heat/vibration from the engine led to an extremely unpleasant driving environment.

But a lot of stuff hasn’t changed. The huge crowd, the speed difference between the various classes, the terrible frustration of failure at final hurdle and some of the fastest cars in the world.
