As said a tough watch and thought Gail's monologue was very moving. By coincidence, I just happen to get a bit of dust in my eye at the exact same time.

It appeared someone had released tear gas in our house.

My wife is a volunteer for Samaritans. As she said to me, if it makes one person call them to talk, it could make the difference.

Very sad, and very emotional listening to Gail’s words, some moistening of the eyes for me

First Corry I’ve ever FF’d through, not through emotion but boredom.
Bum rape and suicide aftermath for an hour!
It’s TV by numbers none of it was convincing the worst was Johnny losing a son and acting like his horse was pipped at the post!

From experience you see something, someone struggling, even though no one ever expects 'that'. The person at question always has a build up to that tragic end point. How they could have highlighted that inner turmoil I know not, but that's their job to figure out as writers.

But by keeping the viewer in the dark it means the viewer cannot put their finger on the cause and can't judge or apportion blame. The viewer is effectively going to go through the same soul-searching as the characters because of it. Also, assuming there is no magic bullet as to why people take this step, the writers avoid any clichéd, formulaic build up to the event.

But yes very moving storyline tonight.

That's actually a well considered way of looking at it, I may be over looked that. Maybe I'm allowing personal experience shadow my thoughts.

Anyways, separate subject. Why has Michelle suddenly forgotten about Carla dropping her fanny on her sons winkle?

From my experience it tends to be people who dont say anything who go and do it. An old work colleague had various issues, always telling people he was going to do it, got talked off a bridge once by the police. Yet my wifes friend, a really lovely girl, salt of the earth, just went to the woods one day out the blue and hung herself, only 25. But to meet her ud think she had no problems at all.

David doing it would have made more sense. Nobody knew what he'd gone through other than him, the other fella and the viewers. Nice long lead up of a few weeks too.

I'm pleased David has told Shauna, hopefully they will get back together, they seem like a good match and she will sort him out.

(That young lass from the salon was never going to last)

Should be several good episodes coming up, lots of cats coming out of the bag.

Glad I avoided this thread for the last two weeks and let the story unravel naturally. Tough viewing, but didn't it happen a bit quick with little lead up? I would have thought someones problems that lead up to such a scenario would have gone on for longer than two weeks, but that's soaps for you.
Is this the first suicide on Corry?
The only times I FF is when women are giving birth like the other week, i'm not interested in half an hour of shrieking, sweating, grunting and groaning.
There's Youpron for that tongue out

Can't say my tear ducts were overused. But some very deft direction- I loved the silent sequence of different groups finding out , that was really cleverly done. Roy gave (another ) acting masterclass as he went through the anguish of telling Kate - what a beautifully expressive face he has, with every nuance of emotion visible .

Eva took a leaf out of Kym Marsh's bluffer's book of acting , showing emotion by punctuating every sentence with ghastly snotty sniffing. The likes of Meryl Streep , Saoirse Ronan and Jodie Foster don't need to look to their laurels just yet ...

I caught the second half of this as I didn't think I really wanted to watch the first bit - I think Kate and Eva's overacting was painful, but the best bit I felt was Gail talking (and usually I hate everything about the character). I might rewatch it for Roy as I think he's the best actor in Corrie...

And it is about time David said something

Kate and Eva were terrible I thought. Eva in particular.

Roy was great as always.

Gail's monologue was touching, especially set over the various groups finding out.

If the police got involved in the rape case, surely Josh would get away with it as he would just say David was up for it. His word against David's.

No, what we want is psycho revenge from the master.....

Oh I agree. I'd prefer her not to be snot & tear stained though.

Before the event anyway....

Totally agree. No proveable case. Plus David in full-on psycho mode makes for great viewing.

Josh strikes me as a pretty transient character anyway, not due to stay on the street's cast list for long. I suspect there will be blood in the near future. (I'd like to see David bring back Graeme, his old cellmate, to assist. I miss him - good character. I remember his "umbrage has been taken".)
