Films I watched this week (Vol 2)

Canadian Bacon 1995

Although it wasn't the last movie John Candy shot before he dies @ 43, it was his last to be released.

Once upon a time in Hollywood - Lots of famous actors but nothing special at all
Joker - It was ok but no idea what all the fuss was about. Essentially a guy in what looks like 1970s New York goes mad.
I wouldn't recommend either tbh. There are better films to watch.
What sort of things do you like then? To me those are two of the three best movies I've seen in the last 12 months.Joker - It was ok but no idea what all the fuss was about. Essentially a guy in what looks like 1970s New York goes mad.

Watched Parasite and Emma this weekend. Emma a bit of a yawn fest. Couple of good moments but mostly...not for me.
Parasite was really good. I can see why it was nominated for lots of things and I couldn't have guessed the events that happen.

I'd say give 6 Underground another try. I turned it off after the sillyish beginning but it settles down and isn't that bad of a film.
You were right... I went back and watched the rest of it last night and it does get better after the 1st 30 mins. It's a bit like a disorganised Mission Impossible. Kismit... wow.RizzoTheRat said:
Kill Bill, both parts across Friday and Sunday night (my wife's choice of film for Valentines day )
Not watched it in ages but hadn't realised it's 17 years old! It has some flaws but I love the way it jumps around and uses grainy black and white for some bit, and the comic book style works really well. I hadn't twigged Samuel L Jackson is in it before.
I also re-watched Kill BIll 1 & 2 over the weekend. I've a soft spot for Kill Bill part 1 as we sponsored the film and I got to go to the Premier. Only managed to get within a few feet of Tarantino, but did manage to get myself introduced to Uma Thurman at the aftershow in Hakkasan. Not watched it in ages but hadn't realised it's 17 years old! Doesn't seem to get the praise of some of his other work, but I really like both parts.

Yes, I agree. They were a little disappointing. But I'll say that Phoenix deserved his Best Actor award but the film itself was a bit of a disappointment. Joker - It was ok but no idea what all the fuss was about. Essentially a guy in what looks like 1970s New York goes mad.

Same for Once upon time in Hollywood. Pitt deserved his Best Supporting Actor but the film wasn't brilliant but I still enjoyed it.

Midway.
Quite like the odd war movie, and this one being based on factual events looked interesting.
How fking wrong was I? Embarrassingly bad, and the script was obviously taken from the pages of this...
Awful beyond any redemption.
Is that the one that looks like a 2½ hour screen grab from World Of Warships? The first time I saw the trailer it looked like an advertisement for a video game. Terrible, terrible looking movieQuite like the odd war movie, and this one being based on factual events looked interesting.

Hansel & Gretal
Got trashed in the reviews and this was the size of screen allocated for this movie that's only been out a couple of days...
And only one other couple turned up..
It was somewhere between maybe ok, and not great. Deffo not worth a full price ticket...
3/10

Lost Boys
Watched on the big screen tonight on a rerelease. My word it's cheesy. By any objective measurement it's a 6/10, however due to nostalgia and the Corey head to head...:
8 Nazi Surfers out of 10 Death by Stereos
(Cry little sister)
My guilty movie pleasure. I absolutely love this movie although if my teenage son watched it now, I suspect he'd think it was bad. Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I went to see it at the Tyneside cinema a couple of years ago during one of their 80's nights and loved seeing it on the big screen again. Oh and Jamie Gertz as Star, yes please. It was great fun. And Jamie Gertz is indeed lovely, however I made two scary discoveries last night. Firstly that I now fancy the mum (Dianne Wiest) more and that at 44, I am now 5 years older she was in the film.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
