Watched Bullet Train last night. Good fun and utterly bizarre with a bit of a Con Air ending.
Really enjoyed it. Almost a caricature of it's own genre!

Enders Game isn't a bad film, not great either but the book is one of those all time classics of the genre. The basic ideas and framework is there but It's a pretty bad representation of the book. There is a massive reveal in the book which was a huge surprise to me but they didn't really bother with that in the film which kind of made it lose its meaning and just turn it into a big space battle.
Yes

The film is OK but is not as special as the book. All the changes made were usually to the detriment of the film as well, particularly the ending.

Just a couple that were on TV yesterday, no doubt will have been mentioned loads but they are always worth multiple watches.

Hidden Figures on Channel 4.
Based on real events, a team of brilliant black female mathematicians come to the forefront to help NASA in the space race with Russia in the 60's while battling against segregation and prejudice along the way.
Love this film and is a must watch if you haven't seen it.

End of Watch on BBC1
Filmed in handheld camera style, follows 2 cops who are best mates on duty around the streets of LA, after making a few big busts that get the attention of a major cartel, they soon find out they have gotten in way over their heads.
Gritty crime drama which is brilliant and acted superbly by Jake Gyllenhall and Michael Pena and another must see.

I watched a film about Stockholm Syndrome the other week. It was pretty poor in the beginning, but it got really good towards the end!

Both excellent films, agreed.

'Based on' appears to be one way of putting it. The reality of segregation & prejudice was bad enough without all the extra things that were invented for the film by a scriptwriter and director thinking they were 'helping'.

Read the book instead if you want to know what happened.

Shame, the other two hours are great fun.
I’ve been unfortunate enough to have seen it on TV since….I did the right thing!
Went to pub with my bro in law whilst Mrs and her sister watched the rest.

Black Adam

Somebody please save us from these frantic super-hero CGI fests.

Zero intrigue, zero plot, zero character development, so zero fks given.

About time Hollywood buried this format once and for all.

Glass Onion The sequel to Knives Out. Entertaining enough but nothing to write home about. 6/10

Win it all

Don’t bother. It’s meant to be funny but was depressing. Actors are familiar from comedies a few years back, but not funny. Cinematography is weird, it’s really grainy and blurry, but to no effect, it just makes it distracting to watch.

I thought it’d be like Mississippi Grind, which has a little je ne sais quoi. Similar story but so much better, watch that instead!

Brilliant film.
The ending ruined it for me.

Pissing about in the alley instead of jumping in the motor and getting out of dodge.Watching it and saying,oh look waiting to get killed

This actually was quite an interesting film and quite entertaining. Probably a little biased as I'm I bit of a foodie... but judging by the buzz leaving the cinema I wasn't the only one who enjoyed it. Very good cast and more Film4 than Disney if that gives an indication

I like the look of that (put Anya Taylor Joy in anything and I'll watch it) but I'll have to wait for streaming due to being out of the country.

Reminds me of Boiling Point from last year - cracking little fill with Stephen Graham playing a head chef teetering on the edge during a chaotic Saturday night service. Spent ~10 years working in fine dining hospitality (on the waitering side) and that film really hit home.

Oh boy, wasn't it bad? I ended up skipping through most of it. Makes me wonder what Pearce B thought he'd signed up for, or whether he's gone all Bruce Willis/Nick Cage and is accepting any old ste now.

I'm also intrigued why Henry Cavill is still interested in playing Superman given DC just don't seem to understand what it is to make a genuinely interesting film.

Having watched Eternals and Thor: Love and Thunder recently I'm pretty sure Marvel have forgotten how to make an interesting film too. The early Iron Man, Thor and Captain America films were fairly decent but the newer ones are crap in comparison. I'm holding out some hope that Deadpool 3 might be ok.
