Been floored with a flu type bug for last few days, feeling better now but still can't breathe properly and keep getting coughing fits. Not much cop when yer a teacher!

Two negative tests. Doc says it was a flu type bug and has exacerbated my asthma causing cough and glut. Got prednisolone orals for 5 days, feeling bit clearer after two days but still not clear enough to guarantee a day at work...and I'm one of those folk who hates being off work.

Hope you get well soon.

Several of my colleagues have come down with Covid, only I haven't been into the office in like 7 weeks. Due to the nature of my work even when I an on-site I am working remote to PCs located elsewhere so they agreed there is absolutely no point me going in unless I feel like it.

(Sorry, very off topic for the thread)

Last off topic post. I spent 33 years working doors, standing outside and was rarely ill. Turned to teaching at 50 and have caught everything going. Schools really are petri dishes for staff and pupils alike. Anyhow, seen any good films recently?

The Outfit

Another earlier recommendation from this most helpful of threads. Oh I liked this one, must have cost all of 70 quid to make but what a masterful and tense thriller it is. Mark Rylance is a perfect fit for the role if you will excuse the pun.

If like me you held off as it sounded a bit dull then do yourself a favour and shuffle it up your must watch list.

All quiet on the western front, im aware I'm late to the party but it was quite good.

Not the best film ever the papers would have you believe but good none the less

I quite liked The Batman but it's not a film I'd watch again, unlike the Christian Bale versions which have "repeat watchability".
The second one (TDK) in particular is a masterpiece IMO, that transcends the comic book genre.

That is not enough.

Good? Bad?
Ultimately depends if torrid and slightly dark and period drama is your bag or not. I enjoyed it as it is my bag. Jack O'Connell is decent in most stuff he does.

Just don't watch it with a) kids b) your parent's c) your grandparents.

Browsing for some reasonable Christmas fare on Amazon Prime last night, the wife to my horror picked some budget straight-to-TV Rom-Com movie with Asa Butterfield (the kid from Sex Education) called Your Place or Mine?

Basically about a newish couple with very different backgrounds who both attempt to surprise each other at Christmas by turning up at the others house.

I always like it when something you think is going to be total dirge turns out to be reasonably chuckle-some, didn't lose my attention and just quite fun.

Nothing new here but some nice performances from Daniel Mays, Alex Jennings and David Bradley is always good value as the Scrooge-type character.

Sometimes all you need when you're sat at home with a proper st cold and only the dog for company, is a feel-good Studio Ghibli film smile
Amen to that. I love Studio Ghibli.

I have a cold too and I don't even know how I caught it. I rarely go out of the house and I always socially distance when I do.
Our Netflix subscription is basically the Studio Ghibli version of Disney+. smile

Star Trek Generations on now and afterwards Star Trek First Contact Film 4
Yes, Film4 have been working their way through all of them over the past few days, starting from the very first film.

I happened to hit Series Link on the first one and all the subsequent ones have been slowly filling up my Sky box's HDD. smile
My favourites by a country mile are 2 and 3, preferably watched as one. But they all have their positives (even 5).
I had genuinely forgotten how good they are
thanks for that - didn't realise they were on F4 so I'm just downloading (in fairness I do have the original crew films boxset - but it's just so convenient to not have to look for the DVD etc). Haven't really watched the next gen films in quite a while, so more geeky fun

Which version? The 1958 original starring Vincent Price or the 1986 David Cronenberg.remake staring Jeff Goldblum?

Cronenberg... As much as the 58 version is, it's nowhere near on the horror movie scale.

Took our eldest to see

Matilda the musical

Absolute blast, if you’ve got kids make an effort to see it. Very clever songs from Tim Minchen and great performances.

Never watched musicals before but now I’ve got kids I get to experience a whole new genre of films I never knew about.

Just re-watched The American on Netflix. Absolutely brilliant. One of George Clooney's best films in my opinion.

Surprisingly explicit. Don't watch it with your kids or your parents. Just saying.

I will add it to my list as it sounds intriguing, a 35% audience score on RT suggests it is not for everyone though.
