New Avatar. Wow, what an epic film. Absolutely loved it, great action, amazing film work and the effects with the water and 3d were seamless..
Can’t begin to image how you create a film like that.
lol just quoted for posterity given the absolutely appalling critics’ reviews…
94% on rotten tomatoes ?? audience score. It was bloody epic !

I never liked the first one, won't bother with second or third or forth. Not really a fan of cartoons.

Maybe make your own mind up. I don’t suggest going if you didn’t like the 1st one though!

Star Trek: Generations - what a steaming turn that was. Data and his memory chip should have been chucked into a escape pod and jettisoned, I nearly threw my coffee mug through the TV. SFX haven't held up well either frown
Yeah watched this again last year and hated it even more than when it came out. The TNG cast were really wasted on the movies they got.

Why can't they make a full film off Love, Death & Robots episode or similar, but i guess money can't buy story lines, just styles. People want family friendly mush, that is what sells nowadays.

Thought you didn't like cartoons?

Pretty much every episode of Love, Death, and Robots is CGI animated

It also has an 8.1 on imdb. You cannot trust the MSM critics anymore. Maybe the RLM boys will review it and we will have a more objective assessment.

Avatar is more hyped up than hyperpituitarism at a hypermarket.

People will be gushing over it, fawning at its brilliance as they do. Fair enough but as the first one I imagine 5 pence spent on the actual script.

Top Gun: Maverick. Best ten quid I've ever spent on a DVD.

THE BANSHEES OF INISHERIN

Soundtrack had anIn Bruge feel to it, as do the lead characters and the tuneful feckin Gaelic language. That's where the similarity ends though.

This is a beautifully crafted feel "bad" movie that drags you along to a rather flat conclusion.

I watched it last night and recognise your review.

Still enjoyed it though, something a little different and the 2 hours passed quickly. As to the ending I thought it was spot on, what else can happen; shoot out, car chase, fireworks display? biggrin
I watched this the other night and really enjoyed it. Beautiful direction and cinematography. Quite thought provoking. Great parody of war.

Violent Night I was looking forward to this. It was awful, and I rarely if ever have said that about a film. David Harbour as Santa pulled me in. The rest of the cast were terrible. Script and direction no better. Had so much potential but definitely an unwanted gift. Should have kept the receipt.

If you have Sky Movies maybe you should have held fire on spending that tenner. It’s being released ‘free’ in the next day or so.

11% on Rotten Tomatoes. I almost have to watch it now, surely no comedy gets that low a rating?

New Avatar. Visually stunning, but paper thin plot. At times I felt it was just trying too hard and that Cameron must have been thinking "Ooo, what other amazing thing/effect/sequence can we throw in here". Also, the natives this time seemed to have lost their alien-ness if you get what I mean. Actually preferred the first one. 5.5/10.

Sounds like the first time. I think dumbed down films are more appealing to the masses, make it look good, but not much underneath, a bit like the rise of social influencers.

I watched Maverick fell asleep half way through, was bored.

Anyone recommend a decent left field non-mass release?

Basically how the stupidest and most inconsequential things can spiral out of control, the basic human feud. And also about fiddling in its many forms. Sort of tragic. Didn't give a monkey's about the donkey. A study in stupidity and arrogance.
