Yep, if it's just judged on tonight then Steven will take it, if it's on the whole competition Adam could still win. A shame that the brightest talent here looks set to lose it at the last minute. I hope they don't forget the blazing highs Adam has given them in the past.

MRJ is burying Adam.
I think MRJ actually kicked his arse the most because he knew he was the best. Scott I thought had been consistent and skilled throughout. Steve I wasn't all that impressed by, by they seem to have taken the 'rags to riches' story quite well and it often seems to be that the obvious contenders lose out at the last moment to the 'most improved' chef. Much like when Brendan was a shoe in to win GBBO that year, and was pipped at the last minute by that no-mark who was there to make up the numbers.

The real shock is not that Steve won, but that Adam lost. I think a flaw in his self-confidence appeared tonight, and he was delivering dishes hoping they would be the best, rather than just knowing they were the best. It's obviously judged on the last round performance and nothing else; if points were allocated at each stage I think Scott would have ranked well, Steve wouldn't have scored too highly early on, and Adam would have been rightly praised for delivering dishes that, frankly, could have been final round dishes from the off.

When Monica and MRJ were asked if they had favourites, I think both of them were thinking of Adam (certainly, MRJ was). But in his spite, I think MRJ knew Adam was head and shoulders above the other two, but to teach him a lesson, didn't award him the win he deserved. Kind of like saying "you are the best here, but you're not the best in the world...yet!".

For me, I think Adam started to lose it once they visited the place in Italy. It was like he couldn't comprehend having a plate of food leave the kitchen that looked a mess (lemon tart?) & that style of cooking didn't sit well with him. The other 2 seemed to flourish with the nutter.

My missus said as soon as they showed Adam's starter that it looked dry.

Anyway, let's see what Greg has to say about it.....

Ditto. As soon as they broke into it with a fork, you could see it was dry by the way it flaked.

I think that is fair comment, Adam has the brightest future here I think, head chef at 21 years old, working as a head chef at 24 on London and in my opinion, and I think in MRJ and Monica's hearts, the best chef of the competition. Of the 3 finalists, and they were all very good, I think Adam has the brightest future and I see Michelin stars coming his way if he continues to cook as he can.

haven't followed the series much but I wanted to eat pretty much all of those final plates.

MRJ is d'man though - how nervous would you be, seriously.

one note of criticism, whomever edits the dialogue needs shooting - feels like norman collier is tasting the food at times - let them talk...

Thoroughly enjoyed this series, the Pro format is by far the best of the bunch.

Good to see lots more Monica too, far better having someone who knows how to cook rather than Gregg who just knows how to eat.

MRJ is brilliant though, some real constructive criticism and he REALLY knows his stuff.

They seemed a bit begrudging of Steven being the best on the day. MRJ looked as though he was telling him he was the chef leaving - slightly apologetic rather than congratulatory.

Good competition though. New formatting (especially yesterday's round) was a success.
Agreed, you could see they really didn't want to give it to Steven, a false victory for him if ever there was one.

"Is there a clear winner based on today?"
"Yes."
"Do both of you have a favourite?"
"Yes." (Look of sad resignation)

Will Gregg Wallace make it to the 2014 season? Monica seemed a bit cranky with him and personally comments like 'that looks luverly' and 'I could eat that all over again' don't add anything. Does the show really need a Mr Average Diner?

I thought he was great, inoffensive. He had more to say in the final and the 'serve-the-diner' round than previous years.
Yes the show does need a 'Mr Average, not a chef' to bring the Chefs down to earth a little from time to time.

Does the show need Mr Wallace? Not so sure.

I dont like the way I typed the word Bit ching and it auto changed it to censored. A pity really, this is a mature forum and we should be able to use the vernacular. Nanny state PH !

Adam said of his dessert in the final something like "its a dish that kids love,so thats Greg sorted" bit harsh but made me chuckle!
I like Greg, breaks up the Cheffiness a bit.

I much prefer Greg to that morbidly obese chap who shows up for the critics feature.

I agree with what was stated previously, all 3 expected Adam to excel and win, MRJ in particular. MRJ was disappointed because Adam didn't fulfil/demonstrate his potential at the critical moment. He was gutted.

Agreed, wonder if you can use the word on the Creatures Great and Small section? That's where all the doggie people are.

Is there not someone who likes food but has a bigger vocabulary than waheeeeeyyyyy or ahhhhhhhhhhhhh or mmmmmmmmmmm or lavelyyyyyyy. I'd be embarrassed if I were mrj or Monica to bring that oaf into a civilised restaurant in the company of loads of top chefs. Great series but please get rid of Greg for the next one. Maybe they need someone who isn't so focused on french classic cooking just to add another dimension.
