Few recent good ones from me

Uncanny-from the makers of The Battersea Poltergeist, listeners get in touch to tell their spooky/strange stories.
Really enjoyed both of those (if you like ghost stories)

Battersea Poltergeist seemed to raise more questions than it answered - but the elements of truth / history running through it made even more interesting.

As for Uncanny - Some really good stories in there told by some very interesting people - One of the early ones with the Irish students / halls of residence boxedin

Something that's not been mentioned is the Taskmaster podcast. Ed Gamble interviews past contestants, Alex, Greg and various TM fans in a review of each episode.

Can be variable and can get a bit samey at times, eg will scream if I hear one more person say David Baddiel was out of his depth. Some really funny insights from the contestants though. Some are just irritating and a bit manic I will admit.

The Bering

Audible podcast - the true story of the sinking of a trawler in the Bering Sea. Enjoyed it.

My regular podcast rotation at the mo is:

- Bret Weinstein - Dark Horse Podcast
How do you find the Dark Horse podcast overall? I know it mostly depends on the guests, but I gave up listening to Weinstein as he seemed to be latching onto certain reports and theories re. Covid and not paying attention to scientific papers and research from other areas around the world which were furthering understanding in a fast moving situation. He quite literally seemed to be stuck in a timeloop there for a period of time and incapable of escaping it.

Has he moved on and can now acknowledge scientific research which hasn't been done in American labs?

He is an agitator and opposes the group think that is far too prevalent in both science and society today, both ends of the spectrum are corrupting. He will be wrong about things and has acknowledged such himself.

I suppose so.

Might stick it back on the list and watch for interesting topics and guests and see how it fares.

Black Box Down

Recently started listening from the beginning, have learnt more about incidents that I thought I already understood, despite the presented not being an air travel professional

Must admit, not listened to him for a while. I know for a while he was getting excited by Ivermectin and he recently hosted Dr McCullough.

At the moment for me, it's all about the VPZD Podcast, hosted by - Dr. Vinay Prasad and Dr. Zubin Damania, for very sensible and open discussions re Covid. Definitely worth a listen for anyone who's interested in the issues surrounding Covid (most recent episode has critiques of the McCullough and Malone interviews on Joe Rogan).

Totally hooked thumbup

..some of those incidents (most infact!)... Just WOW!.. Yes its the safest way to travel but when it does go wrong boxedin and equally some amazing saves and close calls.

A few that have really stuck with me so far:

Fed-Ex fight in the cockpit
Concorde - AirFrance
Kids causing crashes (who knew letting kids fly a commercial flight might end badly)
The girl that fell from 20,000

Glad you mentioned this one.

I’m nearly finished Hunting Warhead - that’s a difficult listen..

Current favourites;
Jools and Jim’s joyride - had some great guests on.
The Adam Buxton podcast
Top flight time machine
Athletico mince

Only just really goto into podcasts but there’s so much to go at isn’t there!

Can anyone recommend a podcast app? I find the Apple app is frustrating to use and it always seems to play the wrong episode. It used to be ok when you had libraries but with every update it gets worse.

Still one of the best ones made, even though it's harrowing.

9/11 Stories is very, very good. One of the best is this one;

https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/9-11-stories...

Another slightly irreverent take on the 911 story is 9/12, basically the stories that came out after the day-truly absorbing.

Anyone else listen to The Apology Line? Brilliant story about an artist who introduced an untraceable answering machine where anyone could ring up and apologise for anything and got more than he bargained for (in the late 70s New York, you can probably imagine much of it very illegal!).

I’ll add them to the list.

Need to sort all my apps out as I have episodes scattered over them all, playing havoc with my organisation 😂

Google podcasts is ok but a bit light on features. I use Podcast Republic which I find very good.

Pocketcasts has been my go to for years on both Android and iOS. Great interface, easy to use (especially compared to Apple Podcasts, which is a unintelligible).

I've listed to tons of Adam Buxton pods over the last couple of years but I've struggled recently as I've not heard of any of his guests over the last few months. Great back catalogue, though.

I've recently been hoovering up the Jools & Jim ones. Highlights include Suggs & Bob Mortimer.

Although I sometimes hesitated on clicking on the play button for a lot of more recent Buxton casts, I found it quite refreshing the hear some new voices that were not just the same old people who appear on all the other podcasts merry-go-round. They have been a bit more left field and as such more rewarding than simply another interview with ‘comedian X’.

Fair enough; I might well dip back in. Must admit his style really works with some people - they seem to feel at ease with him and really open up.
