My Neighbour Totoro - Cute and whimsical, with such great childlike imagination. Surprising how much it made you want a good ending. You have to love that mode of transport! 10/10
Yes, it's a lovely film. yes

The first time I watched it, years ago, I'd had a few sherbets and was in a grumpy mood, and the kids shrieking and laughing at the beginning of the film was like fingernails down a blackboard and I turned it off.

However, the next time I tried I was in a much better mood and I fell in love with the film. To the extent that I now have a small Totoro figure on the top of my monitor. smile

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is another Ghibli film close to my heart. As is Laputa (Castle in the Sky).

Nice to see the Studio Ghibli appreciation, glad there's some on Netflix now.

Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbour Totoro.. all worth a watch.

And Grave of the Fireflies, although pretty depressing...

IT - the Stephen King clown movie.

6/10. Despite all the good reviews and box office takings, it didnt do much. How many 13 year old kids decide to walk up a totally dark sewer all by themselves looking for god knows what?! Just wasn't believable, and wasn't scary.

Escape From Alcatraz (1979)
BBC iPlayer

Early '60's lags plan escape from unescapable island prison.

More '70's Clint in ernest, but dry, dramatization; Eastwood class as usual.

Pop quiz, EFA appears to have zero female roles - can't be many films in that bracket.

The Gentlemen

I was really looking forward to this, being a big fan of Guy Richie’s, previous gangster flicks. The trailers promised a lot, in reality, the film does not deliver. Worth watching, yes, worth paying a premium to watch, no! 5/10

Used Cars (Sony Classic)

I remember this being good as a spotty youth but on last night's viewing it wasn't so good. A few good gags here and there.

Brilliant film!
Nearly missed seeing it years ago. I'd recorded it onto my HDR and not watched it for over a year so one wet Saturday afternoon we decided to watch it only for the recording to stop 20mins from the end! Straight on to ebay and 99p later I had a copy winging it way to me.
Following Saturday we managed to see the end of it!

I'm surprised it's never made it to the mainstream channels.

We watched The Good Liar the other night, great acting and quite a twist in it that I didn't see coming. Starts off as a cat and mouse game between grifters, but changes to something quite darker halfway through. We both really enjoyed it.

Trying to watch Rise of Skywalker, what a mess of nonsense this is
I agree. They could only milk the Star Wars cash cow for so long before it dried up.

Just watched the last of Avenue 5 season one.
Hilarious, even though I do have to translate for the wife sometimes.
Oops, not a film, please ignore

Watched The Prestige last night.

Years since I've seen it and on the whole really enjoyed it.

Quite a few twists and turns so you have to pay attention.

Glad I'm not the only one with that view! So disappointing

POLAR

A John Wick style film, replete with a Keanu Reeves lookalike.
Usual indestructibility, infeasible loss of blood scenarios.

Totally ruined by Matt Lucas as the villain. Dire

I would have said 6/10 but 4/10 with Matt Lucas.

See, we quite enjoyed that film. I guess we all have different tastes.
