Should be interesting to see how Tyrion and Varys will sort out Meereen.

And still no sign of Gendry......
I was thinking about him, the Baratheon line is dead. Even a bd might be useful here. Storm's End...Dragonstone...

I wonder if House Umber is still in one piece?

Rickon is presumably still alive there..

I enjoyed it.

It's commonly thought that the casting of Shae was the biggest faux pas (I thought she was OK) but surely the Sand Snakes are by far the worst?! Were they extras and someone thought they'll do? They're really terrible in what is otherwise an awesome ensemble of actors.

According to Brian Cogman, the Greatjon (as of a few years ago) was leading armies in the Riverlands....not sure about today, but Freys are in the trailers, and we know Walder Frey is the Lord of the Riverlands now.

We will see Umbers. biggrin I hope we see Osha.

At least Shae kinda made sense...

The Sand Snakes (the whole Dorne thing!) are a mockery of what was written. I can see why stuff has been written out (their plot in the books is obviously a red herring and they can't show everything); but Dorne was brilliant, as were the additional twists & turns in that storyline.

Melisandre would make for a great episode of MTVs Catfish.

I don't get the Dorne hate? Its typical GoT. Setup a couple of reasonable characters, have everything go reasonably smoothly, then fking murder the whole plot by killing everything that made it good. It's the Red Wedding but on a lesser scale. And a stark (heh) reminder that, there are no happy endings. The murderous villains will prevail.

It's like a left leaning nice person visiting the NP&E section of Pistonheads. Where love and reason goes to die.

You've not read the books laugh

I don't hate it, I just think its a waste.

The Red Wedding also had a lot more to it that has been missed, but at least they did it well

I tried reading the first book but after seven pages found myself totally exhausted. Don't know whether it's because I'm stupid or there's just too much going on.

Probably the former. I only read a book once every 7 years or so.

Thing with Dorne is it's totally different from the books, and what was done last year with Jamie in Dorne was pretty poor which got me thinking if they start to deviate from the book plots they may make a royal cock up of it.

Remember Jamie and Bron fighting the Sand Snakes in the water gardens? Some really poor fight choreographing, there was some good spoof stuff online.

Soo.....!!

A great opener, but felt quite short - although they seemed to have removed a fair chunk of adverts on NowTV - well they had a brief break but no ads smile

It was interesting to see the Red Woman questioning her own faith as it were.. and the Onion Knight possibly wanting to turn to her for help. Although the last scene was interesting in terms of plotline would it have featured in a book? We'll have to see, but it felt more like a visual scene iykwim

I strongly suspect that the Hounds may well have been killed as well, but that's not really something that they'd show on TV - far better to just have them run off or disappear like they did. You can have too much detail!

Maybe the Red Woman will come back stronger/more determined? Although it almost seemed like she'd given up... Next week will be interesting for sure! :

Surely the Arya arc is going to be her becoming an even greater assassin/warrior even though she's blind, or is she really blind?? As in it might almost be 'magic' stopping her from seeing or something to do with her needing to let go of her need to see in order to engage in combat..

I watched it a little early - as it was available on NowTV and I guess on SkyGo a little earlier than 9pm. smile
The Red woman had started to give up back in S5E10, she abandoned Stannis when she realised she was wrong.
I don't think she necessarily gave up then - she just adjusted her stance and abandoned him for being weak/wrong not herself...

Agreed on the sand snakes actors being sub par in terms of acting.

laugh Probably the latter to be honest.

They are very busy books and if you aren't a reader then you're less likely to enjoy them.

However, they do fill in a lot of the gaps that the series is missing (and there are some that I still think they started initially and haven't gone back to that need closing)

That's why I typed 'started'. She had given up then, but that was the start of the elf-doubt.

Someone suggested to me today that the witch that gave Cersei her magic future story might have been Melisandre. I'll have to watch it back but I love all the theories flying around even if they are completely nuts.

Its like watching Lost in its heyday with all the theories biggrin

No necklace and she would have aged very quickly in the time Cersei grew up - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPCAfvHV-A0

Do we actually know whether Stannis is actually dead yet?

IIRC at the end of S5 we didn't actually see Brienne do the job, or a dead body. It just cut to a black screen. The books provide no answers.

She said (over Jons body) that she'd seen him fighting at Winterfell in her visions. Did she said the same thing about Stannis or only that there was a great battle with winterfell? Thorne might make the mistake of trying to burn them out rather than fight them out. Also Jon might become a wight soon if he's not burned.

I hope Sansa ends up with some luck. I thought she might have turned a corner when she lied for Peter, but that turned out wrong. I can see her showing up at the Wall with a Northern army and fighting the remaining wildlings in some cruel twist of fate. Either way I hope she starts kickng ass soon.

I can see Dany sitting a lot of this season out while Tyrion builds her kingdom. I wonder when Vaerys will get killed. He was responsible for sneaking Danerys out of Westeros and I think he was in on the Dornish plot (which is now presumably as dead as the Dornish prince) to remove the Baratheon/Lannisters from the throne

An exchange between Ramsay and Roose Bolton. They were talking about winning against Stannis' army and Roose asked who made the striking blow to Stannis. Ramsey said he didn't see. From their conversation I assume Stannis was killed by Brienne and his body found by Bolton men soon after to confirm his death.
