Empire Strikes Back mk2, isn't it? smile
That's what i thought, i hope so!
But that's such a low level of expectation.
Are the writers really incapable of going off on a new tangent, creating new storylines, rather than a different crew & cast essentially remaking the OT?
I'm disappointed tbh.
I know where you are coming from but i wouldn't be disappointed with a modern re-telling of TESB.

The whole SW universe is expanding under Disney's stewardship so i think they can keep to a tried and tested method, for now, for the core films.

With Porgs smile

I don’t even mind if they’re the new Ewoks, I love the Ewoks and these always were family films.

The porgs are in for one reason and one reason only - so the Disney store can sell loads of cuddly toys at Christmas.

It'll probably be this year's Furby.

If the new one is even a pale copy of Empire, it'll be ace.

Less than two weeks to go, midnight tickets booked a while back. Surprised there's not more chatter on here.

I really want to get excited after Rogue One, but then my mind recalls The Farce Awakens and I get sad again.

I'm the same. I have re-watched Rogue One a lot more than TFA, and I am sure I have re-watched the original Star Wars more than TFA during the past 23 or so months.

I've tried to stay relatively spoiler free but you can't help but pickup certain things. The "this won't go how you think" tag line and some rumours online have me worried. If they put a twist in or make it too dark, just for the sake of making it dark so that it can copy ESB I'll be a bit pissed off tbh.

I've still got tickets booked for the 14th but I'm holding down my excitement for this one.

Because people hate what Star Wars has become probably.

I'm more worried that Episode IX is now in the hands of JJ Abrams after the original director was given the flick by Disney.

I'm a big fan and a lot of my friends are as well and there's not feeling within that circle. While FA was not the master piece that people were expecting, Disney has delivered a lot of positives to the franchise and it's rude health compared to the period of time when the prequels were being released.

Yeh, possibly.

The Han project is a mess, and never should have been attempted, back stories on ancillary or background characters is one thing, but not on characters who were made popular and famous, and iconic by a specific actor.
The more Disney go on, the more I think they get like Lucas, they got pretty lucky at the start but seem to have a, 'throw it at the wall and see what sticks' attitude.....ergh

I think overall TFA and Roque one where a success. OK TFA was basically a reboot of ANH and it wasn't perfect but the characters were likeable enough that it just about worked. Compared to the dire prequels they are both veritable masterpieces.

I think this film will be the one to make or break this trilogy though and like I said, I'm not entirely convinced by some of the story elements that have been rumoured so far.

But of seven main films they have blown up a death star type object in three of them, I was soooooo disappointed that they did that yet again in 8, that said, I hope this one is good.

It was Disney, they were never going to do anything too risky, especially with a property they paid billions for and Star Wars = Death Star (or equivalent) to a lot of people. Even those who don't really know Star Wars know the trench run\Death Star scene so I'm not surprised they stuck a super duper death ray weapon in TFA.

I predict this one will be a re-tread of ESB, there will be an I am your father twist or some equivalent, it will be dark and the rebels will mostly get their arses kicked.
