A steaming turd of a thing - classic example of what happens when the execs take over.The Renegade edition where Russell Mulcahy took back control of the movie and totally re-edited it - taking out the stupid alien backstory - is vastly improved but the first movie is one of those 'should have been left as a one-off' things as it was a neatly self-contained story, and was very much of its time visually and worked because it was quaint in places. Plus it featured the legend that is James Cosmo - the go-to actor when you require a stereotypical Scotsman from any era in history.

yeah, Highlander was one I rewatched recently, and realised it's a bit campy and s
t in places. And the fights are total dogst.A remake would be decent.
