Chris had far more menace.
I'd forgotten about Chris. I think Marlo was more unpredictable, and colder. Chris had a code, which took the edge off for me, same with Snoop and Omar.

Night of the Demon 1957

Scared the living daylights out of me pre puberty .

When I was a small child that demon haunted me in a recurring nightmare. My mum liked those old horror films, and I guess she figured I was too young to be affected by what was on telly. (I’ve never told her about the effects of her bad parenting.)
Spot on, it really used to give me nightmares That bloody train & the mist then.......ergh !

Even today that scene is pretty intense, it must have been absolutely terrifying to audiences 60 years ago.

Some of those 60's horrors are intense. I do think NotD is a good one, as is, The Haunting.

My cousin used to work on that! (She also drew all the backgrounds for 'Jamie And The Magic Torch'). In August '77 she took me round Cosgrove & Hall's studio in Chorlton Comehardy and I saw all the sets and puppets including the witch. She's even uglier in the flesh...!

Don Logan did come to mind, but in terms of size Chayton Littlestone (big bad native Indian) from Banshee.

Pretty worrying:

Edited to remove Noseybonk as it isn't a real person. Keeping the T1000 though as it's meant to blend in as a real person, and if you didn't know it was a machine it would still be terrifying.

Michael Wincott is an actor who plays a good villain. He's just got the look. Deserved a much bigger career.
Also an amazing voice.

His character in The Crow is a nasty bd. Weirdly although never referenced in film the character name is top dollar.

Richard Attenborough in 10 Rillington place always freaked me out, I imagine John Christie to be exactly like he portrayed.

Amon Goeth for me, what a horrible bd. Not a single redeeming feature. Must of been a difficult role for Fiennes to play.

Robert Patrick was great in T2, he wasn't physically intimidating in human form but the way he lowered his head and locked his eyes on the target was pretty creepy. I don't think he blinks through the entire film either, even when firing a gun.

Also think you have to include Arnie in T1 - it sounds an odd thing to say, but it's very difficult to deliberately not display any emotion and come off as human, yet robotic. Plus the whole concept of being relentlessly pursued by something whose only purpose is to kill you is rather scary.

Up until a few years ago, I would have said Stansfield from Leon was probably the most terrifying.

But then this guy came along and made Norman look like an absolute amateur.

Just when you think you've seen everything, along comes the scene in the lift.....

Agreed! The demon's appearance was criticised in some circles - some opining that just its 'suggestion' would have been better. Still scared me as a 7 year-old....

I've sometimes mused on what would have happened had Dana Andrews attended a concert - or something similarly public - at the appointed hourscratchchin
