I, like many others on here, I suspect, had absolutely no idea MRJ has been advertising anything, let alone potatoes.

So how compromised can he be??
+1. Where are these adverts?

Well that's a real shame he's leaving, he is Mr Masterchef, a true craftsman. Anthony Worrall Thompson anyone? hehe

Bloody stupid decision all round from the BBC. I couldn't have cared less what he was doing with the potatoes - if they are using them on Masterchef then so what? It's a potato - it doesn't have a wrapper on etc & it's not like he ever said "Today we'll be making a potato rosti, made from delicious 'Posh Potato' - available from all good supermarkets and my website."

If they put that idiot Blanc on the show, I'll never watch it again.

I take it Len Goodman will be leaving Strictly Come Dancing this year as I'm 99% sure I saw him doing an advert for Farmfoods on TV last night. And didn't Richard Hammond do Morrisons?

Actually, I wouldn't mind if Hammond had to go. Every cloud etc.
Read the article, I'm not saying I agree with the bbc rules but them's the rules.

If Len goodman was advertising some ballroom dancing classes he might be falling foul of the rules but I think his supermarket ads will be viewed as ok, same with Richard Hammond. If he started advertising the ford focus he'd be in dispute of his bbc contract but whoring himself to morrisons is ok.

Same with jug-ears and his crisp ads. Does he still do them anyway? - haven't seen one in ages.

I remember when Carol Vorderman was presenting Tomorrows World - then she popped up on ITV, wearing a lab coat in a pseudo-scientific advert for soap powder. I think that was one of the first cases of a TV presenter being dropped for conflict of interest.

As for the Roux case, I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly turns up in a new series somewhere on a commercial channel, his profile boosted by all the recent publicity.

I agree. He is very good at presenting and is interesting to listen to.

Own goal from the beeb here. Yes it is close to the line but they have let others get far closer to it without censure - I'm looking at you Mr Clarkson.

Gutted to be losing Roux. For me he is Masterchef professionals, which is the only series I don't miss. I can take and leave the regular series. I can see why he champions Rooster spuds too as they are bloody lovely and make awesome mash!

They taste good but they break up too quickly when boiled. Desiree are better but can't always get them. That new brand in the paper bag are good, don't break down into mush.

Marcus Wareing confirmed as new Professionals chef. I had hoped Michel would change his mind but at least Monica is still in it.

Can't see it being quite the same with Wareing taking over but we'll have to see.

Agreed. Michel is not only a fabulous chef, he's also a decent and generous person. Wareing, on the other hand, wouldn't know humility if it hit him in the face.

I would love to be proved wrong, but I believe the program will be poorer with the new lineup.

I think it'll need a coat-hanger wedged in his mouth so as to appear more friendly towards the contestants.

He was much improved in his recent appearances. Maybe he's matured? Maybe he's acknowledging the success of Roux Jr and Kerridge and realising that he doesn't have to behave like a giant arse to everybody in order succeed. It can't be easy to break that culture when you spend your formative years surrounded by it under Ramsay.
