Not a chance of that though. McGuinness is an attention we and well on his way to passing Kathryn Ryan as the most overexposed celebrity in the UK at the moment. I see he's already constructing his human shield against critics though.

Have a word with yourself. I'm not exactly a fan of his but accusing him of using his family as shields against criticism is well out of order.

Lots of people like him. That's why he's 'overexposed' in the first place.

The trouble with TG is when it is good it is very, very good but when it is bad oh dear!

I will keep watching though just in case another blinding episode happens, the tribute a couple of weeks ago was exceptional.

My take is that Top Gear continues to struggle with the consequences of picking two presenters who aren't passionate or knowledgeable about their subject. Sure, McGuiness and Flintoff are happy to get paid to cock about with cars, but their lack of deep enthusiasm for their subject compared to someone like, say, Rory Reid, can't be escaped.

Harris looks increasingly miserable too. Like a guy who knows he has made a terrible mistake but feels trapped and has no choice but to put a brave face on it.

Paddy is a working class Northern Kid who has made it in a career where many are from wealthy backgrounds/have family connections.

Yes, Peter Kay pulled him up, but he wouldn't have If he didn't see the potential in him, and Paddy has gone on to establish himself.

Don't get the hate. You either like his style, or don't. But he is just playing the same game as all his peers.

Very week indeed.

It’s time for them to admit defeat and that even on a bad day, the CHM years presenting styles and writers just make this lot look like a bunch of 6th Form students who have been given a task of making a TV show.

Harris, apart from being able to drive is just awful when you put a camera in his face. His ability of being able to put on a huge fake laugh when any of his celebrity ‘friends’ do anything even slightly amusing is worthy of an BAFTA.

Flintoff, his acting and presenting style is more wooden than the wooden tops (one for children of the 50s). You can see his lips move when reading the autocue.

McGuiness, he is now real life character that you would see on Phonenix Nights.

BBC, you gave them a chance. But now get rid of them all and try another set of presenters.
Have to agree with this, I didn't even make it through the episode.
So you agree on the bits that you watched. I'm guessing you won't watch it again then?
Why do you guess that?

I'd agree with that assessment. Unlike many here I have no issue with the 3 presenters, thoroughly enjoyed plenty of episodes they've all done together and I thought episode 1 of this series was a real high point.

This was the first time since the tail end of the Clarkson days where I've just been bored enough to be doing something else instead, it must be pretty difficult to make a rubbish film in Iceland with a bunch of cars, but boy did they manage it.

I still vastly prefer the new format (remember how dull the news, SIARPC etc was) but the quality of the films has to be more consistent if they are structuring whole episodes around the,

Shields up and fully operational, sir.

I saw a trailer for the show on BBC Breakfast. Not one shot of his autistic kids, just him and his model wife (that he takes every opportunity to boast about) and their perfect living room, then Paddy allegedly quoting what one of his kids said to him about how great a dad he was.

Me me me!

OTOH you'd have accusing him of whoring his kids on screen, wouldn't you?

Sometimes just better to say nothing.

To be fair many do.

A lot of celebs once they have free money and success want the next step. Which involves going to visit the Queen and being rewarded for charity work. As per the David Beckham leak.

Actors know that playing a disabled/discriminated part makes your chances of an Oscar success much higher, and celebs know charity and disability work can get you a knighthood.

Successful model and TV presenter Melanie Sykes was also doing the autism telly circuit last week. Apparently she had trouble listening to her ear piece and only now does she realise it was autism.

Autism is a wide spectrum, on the right you have severe autism where the person really is affected severely, then at the left it's someone who has trouble with minor things.

He always looks incredibly happy over on social media as he shows us the latest addition to his impressive fleet, presumably partly funded by this "terrible mistake".

I reckon he's OK and you're just seeing the grumpy Jack Dee-like persona the BBC have asked him to play to counter the "bubbly boys" enthusiasm.

This. For every Paddy McGuiness and Katie Price hawking their kids' disabilities on TV specials there is a Damon Hill or Colin Farrell who do the exact opposite.

Fair enough.
I might or I might now watch it again.
If I see it on in the future and nothing else is catching my eye, then would probably watch again to see if it's better / different / the same / worse.

I'll have to keep you guessing I suppose smile

If there's one thing Harris has proved very adept at over the years it's knowing when to walk away from a good thing. Whether Autocar, Evo, /Drive, Harris on Cars etc, he's made smart moves almost every time. My guess is TG pays a great salary, helps raise his profile an astronomical amount vs everything else he's done, and opens the door to hoards of rich and famous people and opportunities. He'll be the first to walk from TG when he senses its run its course. Good for him.

But if you want a laugh, watch the episode of Celebrity Juice when Harris decided to be a guest after Paddy recommended he do it. Never have you seen someone more uncomfortable and clearly making a mental note to never, ever, do anything like this ever again - you can actually watch the light leave his eyes laugh

Nope. I said he was the attention we. You made up the rest.

Bear in mind we are talking about a person who saw fit to make his celebrity debut as an applicant to and then contestant on a TV show called 'God's Gift'.

Lol, it ain’t that for sure! I cover it up because I don’t like seeing a big black rectangle dominate the room.

Pretty much agree with this sentiment. I watched all three episodes today, and the only one I watched without hitting the fast forward button was episode one. Two very good segments in my opinion. I have to say that’s the first time I’ve watched a whole episode in full for a fair while. I grew up in the Eddie Kidd era and I remember him well. Just as an aside PM was born in 1973, so personally I’m not so sure how much exposure he actually had to the Ideal Evel Knievel stunt bike…but that’s just me being somewhat pedantic.

Anyway, the series so far has peaked at the start imho, and with only two left I’m not expecting too much for the remainder. CH just looks so out of place to me. I’d much rather watch him alone on his YouTube channel, as he is a very good driver and a decent journalist too. The other two, well there has been enough said on here, so no point dwelling too much. Personally I find it very hard to warm to PM in anything he’s been in since the Phoenix Nights era. QOS is another example, which I no longer wish to watch. There is just no real chemistry between the three of them, and never will be. If they didn’t know each other through TG, could you imagine the three of them being friends or going out for a few pints and a curry? Imho definitely not. If it wasn’t such a global cash cow for the BBC it would surely have been culled by now.

Best Regards

Minglar
