Six Days

Dramatisation or the Iranian Embassy siege.

I enjoyed it but it didn't capture the tension that well for me.

My 12 year old like these films. Also Big Mommas House etc. Strangely though, I never hear him laugh.

Yes, I found it hard to believe that all that evolution resulted in Tom hanks talking like a simpleton pirate. Talk proper, mun!

i guess you have not watched H. G. Wells, The Time Machine then?

Talking of HG Wells, my father took me to see War the Worlds when it first came out which was an 18 and I was 14, (big for my age physically but obviously not mentally!). .
That film was absolutely fine although slightly worrying for a 14-year-old even though it does look so dated now.

The film that was accompanying it, (you always got two films for the price of one back then! ) Was the original black and white Psycho!

I still wear the mental scars today.

For me, as a sprog, the first film that scared me throughout was a film on ITV, after The Sweeney (still remember that)! Quatermass and the Pit. I now have the re-mastered BR and still enjoy it..

I thought it was pretty good, I had no idea what to expect but quite enjoyed it.

for me the scary film of my childhood was Nosferatu - I came downstairs late one night (couldn'd sleep) only to be greeted by Max Schreck stalking across the screen <shudder>

The original BBC Quatermass and the Pit is worth a look too
Back in I think 1979 I went to see the Nosferatu remake - still very odd and eerie film. One that did it for me scare wise is Exorcist 3 or whatever with George C Scott in it. In case someone hasn't seen it theres a couple of scenes both with older people in them that are simply stunning and scary

Mrs and I are planning a horror night tonight being Friday 13th and all, anyone any good recommendations, I've seen quite a few, not seen 'The Witch' (2014) so thinking this will be first choice unless anyone can come up with a better offer?

The Witch is excellent but not that scary.

Drag me to hell is very different but also very good.

The Grudge made me make uncomfortable whimpers on the train while watching on ipad.
