Just touching on the JG thing. If there is anyone that hasn’t seen the interview with Clarkson, ( reasonably priced car) on top gear, they should, it is hilarious. The guy is on another planet but hugely entertaining.
JG is great fun, really interesting guy. If you like his style have a watch of his interviews with Craig Ferguson over in the USA. https://youtu.be/uCcPjfmoJnA

Baby Driver - Way over hyped. I was massively dissapointed with it. Poor acting and a average plot.
I turned it off halfway through, I thought it was just awful. Like really awful.
That's because it was awful. VERY awful. Devoid of any redeeming qualities.

Got to agree here, rubbish film.

Sightseers

weird lil UK dark comedy-drama.
Film4 are showing a load of these low-budget horrors this week, this one was rather good, offbeat. Film4 are also running interviews wit the creators with the films.
Enjoyable, like moviedrome from years ago.

Love how on TCM's blurb on Get Carter, SKy describe the film as, 'Michael Caine is Carter.'

My favourite synopsis is the one for the Wizard of Oz:
“Transported to a surreal landscape, a young girl kills the first person she meets and then teams up with three strangers to kill again.”

Land of Mine.

Forign with subtitles. One of the best films I've seen this year by far. It's on sky now, go see something that will really make you stop and think.
Thanks for this. I saw the trailer months ago in the Bristol Watershed but forgot about it. Amazon have it to stream so will give it a watch this week.
Watched this last night. Absolutely terrific from start to finish.

The Mummy

I expected this to be a truly terrible film after reading some of the reviews. However, I was pleased to discover that it really wasn't that bad at all. Sure, it was relentlessly cheesy and possibly tried a bit too hard to be funny at times, It certainly required a monumental suspension of disbelief in places (Yes, Russell Crowe, I'm looking at you and your character!) But, overall it was perfectly decent 'brain out' action film.

6.5/10

I did. Classic Channel 4 type film. I was never really sure where it was going but hugely entertaining and enjoyable. A brilliant mid week film.

Cars 3

The first Cars was a revelation and deservedly popular, it had a great rags to riches story and great characters with a love story, to boot.
Cars 2 got too 007 and put cars in nonsense situations and, for me, it didn't work and the characters lacked the warmth of the original.

Cars 3 returns to its original roots but ultimately becomes a rehash of the original but with the necessary feminist diversity thrown in but with a nod to the old school stuff. It's better than 2 but a bit too much more of the same and brings the story full circle.

Not sure where a Cars 4 could go. The new characters are not as strong and I think they'd maybe have to start again but they'll need a strong storyline. Maybe this is the final Cars movie. My 11 year old son thought it was disappointing but it's really a story of evolution of motor sport and a philosophical idea that kids won't necessarily get.
