About a crash landing on earth 65 million years ago.
Fairly straightforward and you ultimately know where it's heading.
But overall I enjoyed it 7/10
Hmmmm, 5/10 for me. Too many face/palm moments. When a film makes me go ‘oh ffs’ then they just did something I can’t live with. Too many moments.

“Aliens” from a far distant planet traveling through space crash land on planet earth 65 million years ago.

But they are human. Why are they HUMAN…?????? Not human like, but human.

I saw it on Friday, simply as it was the only film on at the right time. Late afternoon and to my surprise the cinema was really busy so I was rather hoping it was going to be good.

It was "alright" but no more than a 4 for me. A real nothing film.

Take a punt, you may be surprised.

Excellent film ,which I enjoyed hugely. I first saw Emma Mackey in the sublime Sex Education, then Eiffel ( ho hum sort of film), then this. She is gorgeous , acts superbly and is bilingual (born in Le Mans ) . She is going places .

Watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent last night and was pleasantly surprised. Quirky little film with a Nic Cage, as er, Nic Cage and Pablo Pascale. The story was oddball and the cars lovely. Fabulous scene in the Speedster on LSD. I’ve probably not seen half of the films referenced but lots of little Easter eggs/parodies in there to classics made it fun.
I was impressed by this when I saw it, was worried it would be too meta but Nic Cage playing Nic Cage was very enjoyable.

Creed III

Very strong entry to the franchise but I feel Majors did most of the heavy lifting here. As a directorial debut from Jordan I thought it was excellent, well up there with the best in the franchise in the way it was shot but ultimately I felt the story was one we'd seen before. It was a bit on the nose with the whole good vs bad theme and I think a few tweaks on either side would have made it far more enjoyable. As it was you could see the final outcome coming from the start.

7/10

Thought the first one was excellent, one of the best Rocky-verse films. The second one I was less enthusiastic about, honestly can't even remember the plot right now! Nice to have it back on form.

I keep seeing the poster for this on local bus stops. Adam Driver, a funky futuristic-looking rifle, and a big dinosaur skull in the background (T-Rex?) Looks interesting, glad to hear that you enjoyed it. I might try to get to a showing now.

Watched the Luther film, never watched the series and though I like Idris Elba, I am sick of the sight of him, he pops up everywhere.

Still, the film was good and Andy Serkis is always good value.

Its pretty decent to be fair, though I couldnt help thinking of the 2016 Female Ghostbusters reboot, Andy Serkis as the villain of the piece and the way he was arranging his crimes was kind of reminiscent of the character Rowan in the GB reboot, even looked a bit similar.

I watched luther as well this weekend it felt like it was missing half the story and the other half was full of concocted events to drive the bit of the story you didn't see.

I also watched it at the weekend, reasonably enjoyable but plot holes a plenty. The main title sequence doesn't even tell us the full title of the movie!!

I'm a big fan of the tv show but though Luther was ste. Cobbled together plot, no one but Andy Serkis really looked like they wanted to be there. Felt like an effort to make a bit of money and never be asked to make another one.

I thought it was an enjoyable film but not one I need to see again. I did fall off my chair at the "greatest film of all time" bit though... smilesmilesmile

Watched Good Luck to You, Leo Grande over the weekend. As others have said, superbly written and performed, if a little slow paced. The scene near the end where Nancy admits to her ex pupil what the real score is had me in stitches, the facial expression of said pupil looking like she'd just been told aliens had landed!

Banshees of Inershwinwhatever

Christ, dull and weird. Two guys in a tiny island, off the coast of Ireland stop being friends in the 1920s. You can imagine how exciting life is on that island, well after that it is just weird and slow and depressing.

Arty types might think its great but if that's not you save yourself 2hrs of your life.

Probably for the 50th time I just finished The Gumball Rally (1976) which is doubtlessly the best "road" film ever. No sped-up film, and most of the driving (all the high speed driving) done by the actors themselves.

The ragtime soundtrack just works so well.

Perfection of a film for me 20/10

Next: The Cannonball Run

Yes! Fast cars actually looking fast on screen is so rare, how do so many other films get it so wrong?

Most car chases these days look like they're only going about 30mph.

Anyway - partway through The Cannonball Run and DAMN Farrah Fawcett was beautiful.

[Edit] Finished - the outtakes alone are worth the effort.
