You people are properly weird. I hope you're a kid as if you're not you need a long look at your life.

I see Archie has just bought an RS6 out of nowhere and a £5000 carbon bicycle. Hope he's not going to waste his inheritance.
The RS6 was planned a while back so not a surprise and a £5k bike is probably not breaking the bank for him.
Amazes me how people who splash on cars are so stingy with their bikes.

(£5k is not expensive for a bike, carbon or otherwise.)

Yes, it is. My cervelo was 2.4k for the S3 (managed to get the previous years model) plus some upgrade wheels and as good as any in club races. The majority of serious cyclists I know don't have >5km bikes but of course there are plenty with S-works / custom carbon, etc.

Excuse me, as I will happily declare to knowing nothing about road bikes. But I just bought a set of Ohlins forks for one of my mountain bikes and they alone were £1.3k.

So as far as road bikes go, I don't know, but bikes overall...

Jayemm, when (are?) we getting:

Your Porsche prize pick up video? (Seen the "giving" video, there was a bit of passive aggressive willy-waving from TGE, IMO, so would be good to see your take on it)

Any walk-arounds from the Hubnut social?
The Porsche pickup video would have been out already, only I had to get the car sent off the day after it got home. A £20 thermal switch decided to pick that day to pack up (and according to the history book it did the same thing in 1998!) So I haven't had a car to share yet!

The fan on it won't turn off and as some genius in Germany made the boot release (where the battery lives) electric only it created a bit of an issue. I'm also getting a proper once over with it by my specialist just as I would with any car I bought.

As for the TGE bits, rather strange comments here. Tom was absolutely great through the whole process. I can understand why some people might think it was "a fix" but those who know both of us will know our paths cross extremely rarely. I think I've met him in person about four times and this was the first time either of us was in the others video.

What you see in the video was only a fraction of the conversation of the day and we had a decent chat about various YT and car related things. Tom himself as you can see on his channel has been getting away from the classic YouTube supercar churn because he's genuinely more interested in the older stuff.

At no point did I feel belittled in any way, if anything on the day I thought Tom was actually quite self deprecating. I know he has rubbed a few on here up the wrong way but of all the YTers he is one who is probably the most straight talking.

Hope that settles that!

Also no walk-arounds from HubNut, I am clueless about most of the stuff there (although I enjoy learning about it) - and it was a day off. I went as a punter, nothing more. Had a great time too.

This in spades. £5000 is loads on a bike, way more than a massive majority have or will spend, yes I can go and spunk several thousand on a Bianchi Specialissima or XR4 then fill it with the best wheels and campag kit and the bill will be going into 5 figures.

£5-7k will get you pretty much the best e mtb there is.

Nonsense.

Will get you one, but not top spec. It will be OEM not factory components.

Agreed, I spunked £1k on a new saddle and another £1k on new wheels yesterday just for my backup bike and my DH rig will be getting a full £4k overhaul of gears, shifters etc ready for winter.

£5k is literally peanuts, most of the poor people I drive past in my Fezza on the way to work are commuting to their PAYE jobs on bikes that cost that much.

£5-7K Will get you an extremely well spec'd EMTB, the 'best' ones are north of £10k, crazy tbh but there you go

My original comment is in regard to someone's bike matching their RS6, but carry on if it amuses you.

Also, FWIW, in mtb circles, having a bike that's worth more than you car is a known 'thing'.

Top end bikes are nuts, I have a friend with a £14k road bike plus have seen a Brompton folder spec'd to £5k with upgrades.

Disclaimer: I mountain bike, I'm moving to salt lake to have 3 ski resorts on my doorstep to do lots of downhill so I will be buying an expensive bike. However.

fk bike prices and the "middle aged bald guy driving a T5 to morzine 4 times a year to hang loose" scene that spends the money that keeps the prices high. It's a total joke. £6k for a half decent enduro bike? You can buy an actual motocross bike for that which has infinitely more engineering and value behind it.

Yet I still get a chubby when I see an overpriced 2021 Bronson on its sweet staggered wheels which I know I'm not a good enough rider to really appreciate but I still want it.

I have no idea what a £1k saddle could possibly do, but I'm intrigued. What is it?

Also quite intrigued as to date the priciest saddle I've seen was around £500, no idea what a saddle twice the price could possibly do? For that money you'd want it heated with massage function!
