mind you some tool took his 3 y/o in with him eek so I do wonder what some people are thinking! In fairness, the kid was totally silent for the 3rd of the film they were there, but I'm putting bets on him not sleeping well at some point over the next few days
Echo that, went In knowing what to expect and lived up to that I really enjoyed it. Also liked the sort of easter Egg of the rampage arcade machine in the background just out of focus.

Ditto to the kids comments, saw with a mate and cinema genuinely had around 25 kids with parents around the ages of 4 to 8 max. Noisy as fk too but loud cinema and me zoning out I ignored them. But loads of swearing and not exactly young kid friendly themes. I truly despair sometimes. stty parenting beyond belief.

GotG is just so cool, easily one of my fave MCU films, alongside Winter Soldier.

Wow, what a surprise! Fully nuanced and fleshed out characters, a career-best acting performance for most of the actors. layered subtleties and logical, believable special effects and action sequences. All in all a triumph of filmmaking which will be remembered come Oscars 2019.
roflrofl as if!! Seriously the film is based on the mid-80s computer game how do you think it's going to be?
I really enjoyed it - yes it's trash but going in there knowing that is all that's needed. Mind you some tool took his 3 y/o in with him eek so I do wonder what some people are thinking! I had that game too, and a ripoff with knights
On the one hand I will probably watch it because I enjoy brain out pointless action. On the other hand I spent a huge chunk of my childhood playing Rampage so I feel uncomfortable with them stealing that idea so late in the day.

Nobody ever wanted to be the big monkey when we played!

It's really moody and full of OH SHI! moments, and the acting was good. However, I find the backstory hilarious - well, the bits that supposedly make it up. Monsters which are blind and impenetrable wipe out most of the humanity? As my 12-year old son put it, 'just take that toy rocket and hook a bomb to it'. Overall, an enjoyable and surprisingly humane spectacle, nothing more.

There are no real spoilers in this post.
Signs (a similar film in many ways) had the same 'plot holes' levelled at it, but I think to an extent all bets are off when it comes to an alien invasion. Firstly you cannot underestimate the stupidity of mankind, particularly if it was a sudden massive event. Given the numbers appearing after a single gunshot in a very rural area it may have been that there were thousands upon thousands of them in cities etc. Considering they just kill to remove sound and don't actually feed on humans it wouldn't take too long to put a serious dent in the population with the apparent killing efficiency they have. Most importantly, the film deliberately leaves that all wide open to interpretation. We have no idea if the world has been wiped out, it may be that the things are isolated to rural areas where they can thrive with little sound, so we've essentially abandoned everywhere but (presumably devastated) cities. Thousands of possibities.

Signs - wasn't that the one where the aliens decided to try and take over a planet that's surface is over 70% water and it rains a lot but they instamelt if they get wet? They didn't really think that one through.

Alien Covenant tonight.

Would I watch it again - No
Was it an enjoyable film? - it never got going and frankly the story line was weak. Why not make these great films like they should be.
Wasted evening? Well I’ve seen far far worse so it’s a 4 out of 10

Ready Player One

I went with a mate who was looking forward to it. I hadn't even bothered watching the trailer. It was entertaining. The visuals were very good. I don't know how it compares with the book as I've never read it. I've definitely seen worse movies!

5/10

Rampage

The Rock playing his standard character. CGI was good.
Creatures didn't make sense. Why was the alligator so much larger than the other 2 and could turn it's tail into a spike weapon. Why could the Wolf fly and shoot spikes out of its tail. But George was just bigger.

It was alright.

6/10

Fracture - older crime / courtroom drama starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and a young Ryan Gosling. Very enjoyable slow burner....decent plot twist at the end. Only bad part was the Celtic nations accent mash-up from Sir Anthony Hopkins....8/10

Trespass Against Us With Michael Fassbender and Brendan Gleeson.

A very nice British film that is very much tongue in cheek, (I hope) about a small band of Irish gypsies, their antics and mainly the relationship in between father and son, (the two main characters).

I really enjoyed this although if you look at the score on tomatoes it doesn't reflect the entertainment value of the film.

Look away if you have a fond spot for Subaru Legacy estates!

Certainly recommended compared to several others that have been recommended on here!

7.3/10
Thanks for that. Going to look into it.

Valerian is on Netflix and we decided to put it on for something to do. I know it never got rave reviews but I really liked it. A little long, but it felt like a follow-up of fifth element and I really liked fifth element.

Turns out, after looking through the filmography, I tend to like a lot of Luc Besson's films so no surprise I liked Valerian. The wacky creatures and other lifeforms and vast, complex metropolis of the 1000 planets space station...I just loved it. Story a little weak in places. Acting a little wooden but really it was just the length, could have done with 20 minutes lopped out somewhere.

Just watched Get Out

What a fking load of old st.

It's like some dreadful 1980s B-movie. Quite how it deserved even any Oscar nominations, let alone an award, is entirely beyond me.

Hurricane Heist!
Just watched it, not bad quite fast paced but a bit predictable with a standard straight ending.

The Last Jedi

Despite growing up as a major Star Wars fangirl, I never got round to seeing this at the cinema, and rented it on Amazon Prime Video tonight.

It was Star Wars by the numbers. I felt like I was watching a very, very good tribute act of a band I once loved. The band really nailed all the original's moments, and made you think "oh yeah, they did that bit. And they got that bit. And that bit was a really good tribute to that bit"... but it didn't feel like anything more than a tribute. Nothing new, just recreations, shout-outs, allusions, call-backs, and the like.

It did rather overstay its welcome, and I found myself thinking "do we really need a recreation of the Battle of Hoth?" near the end.

But, overall, it was entertaining enough. As my dad would say, "it had its moments".
I like this review, you've kinda nailed it. Apart from the use of "rather". "Rather" is being very very kind. I was leaning towards 6 out of 10, but the end p1ssed me off.

Whilst Prometheus was a poor film over all, at least the ending gave a feeling that the follow-up could really be something interesting.
Instead, we get this HoS.
5/10 from me.
