Evans on Virgin is actually OK. I appreciate his enthusiasm may not appeal to all, but considering Virgin is 'just another' commercial station it's certainly a very professional production. It must have given their listening figures a huge boost.
I wouldn't even consider going back to Radio 2 - the damage is done. People must only listen because it's convenient (strong FM signal, easy to find etc) and probably better than the equivalent of stabbing two blunt screwdrivers in your ears by listening to Heart FM.

If you think that's bad have you listened to Greatest Hits Radio? Took over the FM frequency for Absolute Radio and it's just horrible. All they play is bloody Barry White, and they're only meant to play music from the 60's to the 90's, but they're thin on 60's material and Amy Winehouse keeps being played. I'm confident to say this, but I don't think Amy was out in the 90's.

Every car I have ever been in has the '2' preset button linked to Radio 2. It's just the done thing. 88-91 FM. For basic entertainment all day long.

I don't mind Steve Wright, but, I don't listen though.

If you want a good afternoon show, and, can get Radio Solent? Alex Dyke is very good IMO. From 3 to 4pm he does a classic old chart from that particular week, like Pick of the Pops.

Craig is great to be honest. If I had DAB in the car I'd listen to him more.

He is really good...apart from the take over bit where a bored housewife tells us her incredibly uninteresting life story and the music of her memories. Jesus wept.

I enjoy his sitting-ins.

I have tried listening to his evening show - they day after, but it just does not work in the same way

All year so far.

Sadly, the weekday replacement, Keaveney, is nowhere near as good. Nor is Lauren Laverne's late morning replacement, Mary Anne Hobbs.

The reporter just on the Jeremy Vine show talking about pelican crossings must be a wind up. His hysterical enthusiasm was unintentionally hilarious laugh

Is that a euphemism?

I know for myself, on a long sunny bank holiday weekend I can go South of Andover two or even three times.

Agreed re Wright, he can only have kept his job with some serious blackmail material. Zoe Ball just keeps talking about Zoe Ball. I think I'm in love with Sara Cox.
