It was ok, not great, not terrible.
Felt like something was missing, can't quite put my finger on it.

The history bit was odd, didn't feel like the end of the story. Maybe they filmed a lot more history stuff but the American paymasters were not keen.

I thought it was brilliant. I really can't understand the tedious little freaks that come on here to say how much they didn't enjoy it. Really bitter, self-important little oiks.
It's called having an opinion.

Every little helps?
Nope, absolutely wrong.

For what it's worth, and I believe I'm allowed to say this without being told I'm an ahole or Greta will shout at me or whatever, but I thought it was a strong, but not memorable return to the screen for the three. I loved the boat theme (I'm a very amateur boatist myself), and the programme felt like it had been polished and focused more on genuine entertainment. There's obviously some scripting involved, but I much preferred this type of "you're going down here and you'll fk up, make it look good" rather than "you'll inexplicably stumble across an amazing river so act all surprised when Richard's roof falls off".

The criticism I have is that it dragged on a bit. Not that it wasn't interesting - it was, especially the historic pieces, but 90 minutes of the same type of gags and you do start to think that you've seen it all before. That episode, condensed to an hour and dropping some of the gags/filler bits, would be one of the best pieces produced.

I'm curious whether this episode was originally planned to be around 60 minutes, but then as The Grand Tour became a specials-only programme, they had to fill an extra half an hour with already-shot footage. Hence the odd moments like the tidal beaching in the dead-end and the slightly elongated shopping trip.

All in all, nothing to complain about, a very respectable episode. Bring on the next!

I'd argue they could have made it 2 hours, a bit more focus on the scenery and the history. Perhaps, as already alluded to by an earlier poster, they were cautious about what they included to appease the US market.

It's not been announced.

I quite enjoyed it as a travel show, but mourn the loss of a motoring show.
Still, there is a whole YouTube full of car stuff

Andy Wilman said they are making 2 a year, so don't expect another before next Easter I guess

So so for me. Dragged on a but but plenty of laughs. I did have to watch it twice though as I fell asleep at the first attempt.

It was very enjoyable, but jesus, only 2 a year? And that was one of them?
That is depressing.
I would much rather a larger number of smaller scale specials, some of their best efforts were relatively simple road trips and challenges.
Maybe thats a bit selfish though, they are getting old now and it must take a lot out them but they dont need to push the envelope so far to still be entertaining IMO.

I got the impression that it ran out of time and just stopped rather than actually coming to a finish.

O/H signed up to Prime yesterday so I watched it this afternoon while she was out topping up my mince pie stash.

I thought it was drawn out, predictable, repetitive and ultimately boring - swapping cars for boats does not breathe new life into a format past its best before date.

I watched it in two parts viewings a week apart. Very disappointing, with the obvious presence of camera boats and of course zero chance they would ever get lost or in trouble. The scripting was puerile with them blaming each other for obviously scripted escapades and the locals were prepaid to have the boys crash into them and spill fruit. They need to get back and discuss cars.

The previous 2 posts are not true fans and obviously do not "get it"....so one wonders why they are even here in the first place!
