Thunder Road, brilliant film well written and acted and with just the right amount of humour.

8/10
agreed - apart from I don't think it Netflix should have billed it as a comedy. Although I do like my humour on the dark side.

Just giving 'The invention of lying' a try.
Just as a follow up.. I realise I was 10 years late to 'The Invention of Lying'... but I can't imagine all those years have changed the fact its utter toss!

Yeah I think I remember it being pretty poor, and I only managed about 15 minutes of it.

On ep 2 of Messiah (arrived today on Netflix). Good so far. Not telegraphed!
Looks interesting from the review
Although perhaps telegraphed in 1989..."If the real Jesus Christ were to stand up today
He'd be gunned down cold by the C.I.A." smile
After finishing S2 You (which I enjoyed possibly more than S1, and perhaps the only one who didn’t dislike the last minute) we’ve moved on to Messiah. Currently episode 4 and enjoying. Although atmosphere reminds me of Chambers. Which didn’t end well.

Messiah

Very slow so far and is clearly another series were it all happens at the end. Not sure yet.

EDIT

Well it is very slow, too slow, tedius and for such a great premise, the application onto film is pretty weak. 5/10

Hellboy.
Dreadful, binned it 3/4 through.
meh - I started out with low expectations (having read the reviews) and I quite enjoyed it (to be fair the inclusion of a Scorpions track in the opening segment didn't hurt matters!). It's not great but I've seen far worse

Are you watching S1 or S2? Worth watching from S1 to be honest to get a background/make sense.
Binged S1 and now 3/4 of the way through S2.

It's a sequel to JW1 and JW2, both of which were also st, so I don't see what you're missing.

The first one was ok, but that surprised everyone who just assumed it would be straight-to-DVD st.
I have no idea why these films are lauded to the extent they are.

We started watching You season 2 but after a couple of episodes it was just more dark muttering and the resigned contemplation that the girl was going to meet exactly the same fate as in s1

Is it worth persisting with or not?

My view on these things is that its always worth persisting once you have started

It does pick up end of episode 8
Also the ending is not exactly the same as S1 - much as i can say without spoiling it

Overall, I am not sure S2 ever needed to be made TBH but there you go.

There is a strange cult around Keeanu Reeves on the internet. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a nice chap, but the levels it is taken to is very odd.

I thought JW1 was great. JW2 a bit meh and I have yet to bother with JW3.

I must admit that I have assumed the trilogy would be following the standard ‘salary, pension, p1ss take’ route. The first film is interesting and good and you certainly don’t object to contributing to the salaries involved. The second film is OK and piggy backs satisfactorily and you don’t object to the money fuelling their pensions. But the third film is simply junk to milk as many as possible as opposed to being of any merit.

I noticed JW3 was up (which weirdly is the nickname of the Jewish community in Hamstead) but haven’t had any desire to watch it.

I thought it started well - but lost its way. Too many sub-plots too. Still worth 6.5/10 'cos of the good bits.

Got to episode 6 last night - felt it started slow but has got better with each episode, so will stick with it - very suspect quality though, often seems out of focus, and that tornado was pretty awfully done, especially when the pastors wife ran outside into it and her hair and clothes didn’t move in the wind

I agree - the image quality seemed very dodgy in places.

Only watched episode 1 and it all felt very slow, I certainly wasn't immediately compelled to watch the 2nd episode.

That was the lyric that came into my head when we watched E1 last night. The The - the sound of my student years.....

Slow going on the actual show though, wife bored already - might be one I watch on my own.
