It's a very pretty car but you really can't see why they are asking what they are for it.
Well the simple answer is that Ferrari who control Maserati understand that they don't need to charge £100,000, they can triple the price and make profit on the car as they are only allowed to make a capped amount relative to their other sales. Porsche are selling you a GT3 RS on the understanding that you buy a non GT product or EV, somewhere north of £400k over 2 years. The higher the spec, the higher up the list you go. Hence the 90+ 992 Turbo S on the used market at the moment as getting a "Paint to Sample" is not an option you just buy. Its a convoluted process within Porsche itself. Ferrari and Maserati are doing well in the US market and are simply incorporating the cost into the option. McLaren do the same as they don't want to sell you an SUV or EV sedan to get on the list.
I find the reviews of Porsche GT products don't factor this in, you can't just walk into Porsche West London and order a 992 ST in a fancy colour that you picked off the configurator.
Yes, Maserati, Mclaren charge you to do unique things. Even Rolls, Bentley you just have to pay up front. Ferrari from what I understand still has a tiered system, but not as bad as Porsche.

Ferrari does not control Maserati. Maserati is part of the Stellantis group and its agreement to use Ferrari engines has expired. Well deserved award win for Harry. I think the Telegraph described him as the "David Attenborough of motoring journalists" or something like that and its a fair comment (although obviously Harry is considerably younger than Sir Attenborough!). His measured and thoughtful reviews of cars, delivered from a point of experience and knowledge, are the perfect antidote to the mass of hysterical and hyped You Tube reviewers out there. Long may he continue with his tried and test format. Those with a short attention span who want him to change it are welcome to tune in elsewhere!!

Perfectly put, Harry really is in a class of his own. sisu said:

Maserati is a Stellantis brand. It's more likely they hope the cash will fill the hole from all the credit defaults on their trucks in the US. I'd wager that in Europe they now regret agreeing to underwrite a share of Santander's credit risk. Just catching up on the latest Harry's Garage video. Always interested in the technical stuff but this one was just a bit too long on a very niche subject. Found myself drifting off after 10 mins and wishing that Harry would get that lovely F50 out from the garage (yes I know its not his and he is only looking after it) and do a video on that instead! No-one ever seems to do F50 videos. Strange.
Chris Harris/Collecting Cars have just done an F50 video (apologies if this has been mentioned on the preceding pages).thegreenhell said:
It's a shame that Harry didn't get a test drive in today's subject. I'd like to see what it could do up his test hill out of Burford.
I've seen the incremental 100 MPH interval times somewhere for its predecessor ThrustSSC. From memory, once over ~100 (IIRC so you worry less about compressor stalls and FOD), it adds each extra 100 MPH in about 2.5 seconds all the way up to 600.OTOH, still tractable enough to drive "slowly" back along the track rather than tow it when they were running out of light at the end of the day. - https://web.archive.org/web/20060615030741/http://... - runs 60 and 64

Just cannot see this project ever getting to point of trying for the record, looking for a driver with 12 million behind him suggests all is not well funding wise.
Also is anybody really interested in the LSR now, it was so long ago that it was set.
