Yes not bad, make the brits look a bit stupid and it does have Keri Russell in it (worth watch just for her)

I'm a bit late to the game on this one, but with the event release of the film I've ended up bone watching the whole first series of The Last Kingdom today. Really enjoyed it.

Basically a bit like Game Of Thrones but set in Viking/King Alfred The Great era England.
Funny you mention this, I'm just trying to finish it as the film came out! I tried to start watching it right as I finished Vikings but didn't get on with it, mainly as it was so similar but different to Vikings (same time period almost exactly I feel) so I gave up. Went back to it a while ago and it's brilliant. I'm just getting to the end of the second to last series and can't fault it really, I've loved it. Made me wish I'd paid more attention in school when we covered the Vikings!
Brilliant series, it gave a balanced view of the Saxons and the Vikings. So much politics involved across both parties and I preferred it too the Vikings TV show. A lot of the Mercia towns are near to me and I found it a good education for the villages near by. Certainly Repton.

The film however was far too rushed. It could have easily been another series.

I can't see Vikings on screen without thinking of the Norsemen series, possibly the most consistently funny series I've ever seen.

“Nobody”

Very silly, very violent, ridiculously OTT, Bob Odenkirk kicking some arse. Loved it. Even the wife gave it 7.5/10 and she hates this kind of thing normally.

I gave it a 6…A History of Violence is a MUCH better film.

I'm just starting series 5 now...

I thought the first series was excellent. From series 2 however I feel it went a bit TV soap. Some character traits were disregarded in favour of furthering the story. For instance, in the first series, Uhtred nearly gets beheaded for interrupting prayer, from the second series onwards, prayer interruptions come thick and fast! Also, every plan must be actioned TONIGHT! IT MUST BE TONIGHT!

Series 4 was good though, and series 5 has had a decent enough start. Series 2 felt like a lot of filler; in fact. I think series 2 and 3 could probably have been combined into one 10 episode series.

2 episodes in.

Not sure if we will stick at it though.

Also 2 episodes in, the gf and I are enjoying it enough. Intriguing enough story, even if it's developing a little slowly.

Also, fun fact, they were filming a scene for this in front of St Thomas' Hospital early last year when I was there waiting for a colonoscopy!

If you enjoyed The Last Kingdom, you may enjoy a film based on same series, “The Last Kindom: Seven Kings Must Die”.

Nobody - the first English language film I've had to watch with the subtitles on!
Why didn't they auto translate the russian bits considering it's alot of the film

Nobody was mostly enjoyable for its typical American gratuitous violence. However the final shootout was ridiculous and Uncle Fester just didn’t work for me in this role.

Netflix has issues in this respect. There’s quite a few films where there are none when another language is being spoken.

I've seen it before when it's a few words but alot of the "plot" (I use that loosely wink ) was in another language then I had to put up with it describing the music etc that annoyed me the rest of the time

But I enjoyed the film though smile

Just finished The Last Kingdom and the film Seven Kings Must Die.

Not sure if it's just because I binged it all in a week, but by series 4/5 I just became a bit numb to all the plot lines. Person arrives wanting land and/or power, schemes with someone, Uhtred tries to help, Uhtred gets screwed, Uhtred ultimately ends up saving the day and gets forgiven.

It was also getting a bit silly seeing people travel vast distances either on horseback or foot seemingly overnight.

Predicable and daft would be my review after finishing E02. We'll see how E03 goes before giving up.

Old People

You'll never look at them the same way again yikes.

Variation on a theme, I won't say much more but worth a watch with a few 'wtf' moments.

Trigger warning: There's a a social commentary in there but it doesn't spoil the film.

(German language, horror)
