I’m going with GBH (haven’t googled it). He didn’t intend to murder that person he hit - he was an innocent bystander so I’m going to guess that will make it GBH.

My legal career beckons...biggrin

He is a wonderful advert for why not to do drugs.

Thick to start with probably and enhanced with years of abuse.

I've not googled it either, but acting recklessly can be enough for a murder conviction.

ETA I spent 4 years studying law (a long time ago) but never pursued it, but this was certainly the case under Scots Law.

What a pointless waste of two lives. He seemed genuinely gutted when he found out who the victims was and although part of me me hopes he rots in jail, part of me despairs for the kid.

He was well chuffed with himself for not going down during the fight.

That's the main thing.

Going to assume the Vine chap had no insurance on the car due to the registered owner stating he sold the car 4-5 months previous to the incident, but for the sake of my question we will say he was insured. Will the poor guy that was hit/run over be able to make a claim against the drivers insurance?

I’m normally a very black or white, slightly right leaning kind of chap but i found myself empathetic for the perp last night...

Inexcusable crime but my overwhelming thought was that he was stupid, rather than violent or cunning or blood hungry - too thick to appreciate the consequences of what he was about to do, too brain dead from smoking 12 joints a day to realise how serious it all was. Just wanted to be a big man, trying to save face after getting a kicking.

That said, he clearly admitted drink and drug driving - why didn’t the cops pores charges on these offences too? Or did they and it just wasn’t documented?

Also, the smarmy little copper with the goatee and slicked over hair... smug, unprofessional little weed.

8 years in prison knowing the little scrote that beat me up was ran over... i could deal with that...
8 years knowing I ran over an innocent bloke who seemed like a bloody nice guy..... nah...could not live with that....

It's quite clear...whatever someone has done to you (bar harming your kids) just turn away from any revenge and just tell the police let then deal with it...
