Hostiles

Gritty western, Bale and Pike are excellent, nothing original but quality acting and cinematography, great score and nice balance of bad people on both sides 7/10

(is there a native Indian part where Wes Studi doesn't get a call? he is excellent too)

Looking forward to that one. Anyone remember Christian Bale’s screen debut?

Eye in the Sky

A tense drama about drone warfare. A strong 9/10 from me, I was on tenterhooks the whole way through.
I thought it was awesome too. A really underrated movie. And probably a good depiction of “how it is” these days.
Yeah, mechanical birds and insects flying about spying on ISIS, beeming pics back to Westminster... exactly ‘how it is’.

Probably.

It wasn't Empire of the Sun if that's what you're thinking.

It was his 2nd movie but made in the same year as his first movie and people actually saw it.

Christian Bale is one of those actors you feel has been around forever because everyone knows him from Empire of the Sun (1987) yet between that and American Psycho (2000) his filmography is pretty much forgettable. It almost feels the Christian Bale we know today didn't take off until Batman Begins, even between American Psycho and Batman Begins the only films of note are Shaft and Reign of Fire..

'Kenny'

Kenny Dalglish's story mostly centered around his Liverpool career.

Very moving at times.

He comes across as a particularly straightforward, likeable and principled individual.

8/10 for me.

I enjoyed the ethics/moral quandaries and how different slants were being played out. Sure the tech was a bit futuristic but it didn't spoil the drama for me.

What's the film where he's an ex GI, but he's gone off the rails, part of the films set in Mexico? That's a great film!

That sounds really good. I was thinking of the one where he's an ex-soldier and has a dummy brother getting involved in oxy deals? IN redneck land.
