The Grand Tour

Laughed at Hammond sinking and also at the idea of deep frying peas making them easier to eat
Never seen Hammond eat so much before. Bit short on scenery which was a disappointment having done Lewis/Harris/North and South Uist 2 years ago.
Seeing them on the Applecross 'Stelvio Pass' road reminded me the fastest vehicle on that road is the Tesco delivery van.

I don't approach these specials with much enthusiasm these days as they're nothing to write home about. Nice way to pass an hour or hour and a half though. Agree it was a shame they didn't do it summer, seems a waste really.
But Hammond and the boat gave me a proper belly laugh. Woke my wife up I made so much noise. Was it carefully choreographed? I couldn't give a t0ss.

Read in the paper today, the previous owner of Hammond's boat tail, is not at all amused, seems it had a lot of sentimental value, and thought he was selling to a collector, who would take great car of it "not fk it up as Hammond did.
Pretty sure if you sell anything, you then have no right to dictate what happens.
Heard Hammond say in an interview that he has kept the Buick for himself. So it’ll likely have the mods removed and made really nice again if his other car projects seen on drivetribe YouTube channel are anything to go by. Pretty sure if you sell anything, you then have no right to dictate what happens.

This is no different to someone buying my old Mini and deciding to put a different engine in and some arches/wheels on. It's their car so what possible right have I got to moan other than to say, "Ahhhh, I preferred it the way I had it'.
Unless when you sell your 'sentimental value object' you get the new buyer to sign a contract outlining no changes, you should shut your hole. You forfeited your right or claim to the item when you sold it.

Worst one I've watched and got bored half way though. I dont get the china reference at the end either
It did feel compromised and a bit rushed together in places, but i guess it was the best of a bad situation to film during various restrictions. Some good laughs from it, great cinematography as usual, but I'm glad I wasn't the only person that didn't get the ending.
It just felt a bit flat.
But still better than the GT episode where they had boats.

Not so much 'Contractual Obligation Album' as 'Greatest Hits (Poorly) Remastered'. Almost all of the old tropes were present (bridge, caravans, narrow streets, American cars are unsuitable, crashes, overheating, penis references, field stock-car race, modified cars, broken wiper, etc. etc. etc.) and executed suitably half-heartedly.As someone else said - you can tell their heart wasn't in it. Time to split the band and let them get on with their (considerably better) solo ventures.

Yet despite all that, it was better than 80% of the crap on TV. If the choice is between watching a reasonably average GT episode of Love Island, Drag Race, Eastenders, the News, or whatever other nonsense is on, GT wins every time! Your post was this morning though, so within the last few days, no?
yes i was wrong about his second series, what do you want a public apology and a biscuit. i wasn't wrong he is a xenophobic racist, that hasn't changed which is why he is so popular. I've always though may was better in this this regards.it is a bit like Barnard Manning always said he wasn't a racist, it was his Character. Anyway lets no bogged down in who said what it is all on google, i just umbrage to be called a bigot myself lol

It did appear to end abruptly. Maybe the second part is the answer?

Hang on, you meant there's a choice of what to watch??? Someone should tell the folks on here, that.
Sorry, what's your point?Anyone who watched Lochdown had to choose to watch it, probably on the expectation of it being a worthwhile choice. Check my posting history - this is the first time EVER that I have been negatively critical of a CHM production.
It was not good.

Not exactly a rousing defence - 'it was the least st program on'.Previous Grand Tour (and CHM Top Gear) went up against the programs you listed many times before - they are not in competition with each other. Completely different demographics (I have attempted to watch Love Island and the premise and point completely evades me - I have no idea what it is about except perhaps a well filmed verging-on-soft-porn show).
As I said - I am a self confessed CHM fanboi. This latest iteration was just a reshoot of of their best-of road-trip moments (even going as far back as Hammond capsizing a pick-up).
My big 'sit-down to watch TV' moments of the past few weeks has been a big budget BBC drama/thriller (Baptiste), Clarkson's Farm and Lochdown.
The BBC thing was a massive disappointment, Clarkson's Farm was an utter delight and a revelation (proving that C, H and M can still be entertaining when their heart and soul is in the venture), and Lochdown barely kept my attention.
PS. I caught an episode of 'Clarkson on TV' and thought it was brilliant too. Folks have been critical of it in here because they think it is a rehash of the Clive Anderson/Chris Tarrent things but it isn't because it doesn't pick on cultural differences between countries as they did. It is a sincere (but funny) critique of UK TV. Clarkson did a skit on how all BBC TV crime dramas use EXACTLY the same sequence of shots in their trailers - something I had never noticed before, but he was spot-on observant.

I thought it was an enjoyable 90 minutes but not close to their best work. The cars were interesting, the scenery was pretty good given it had to be in the UK, the bridge building looked very fun and I did enjoy Hammond capsizing the boat, I might be wrong but that didn't actually look deliberate.
It was a bit by the numbers though, the stupid mods that obviously won't work, the caravan destruction, deliberately driving way to fast on rough surfaces to break stuff etc. That said the real star of their specials has always been the places they visit and the terrain they cross, given they couldn't travel I would say it was a fair effort of making something watchable in the UK. It was always going to need some padding out with tomfoolery and conversation.
Hopefully next time they'll be off to some far flung inhospitable corner of the globe driving through rivers, eating scorpions and grumbling about sleeping in tents again.

I enjoyed that. Had all the clichés, did the usual stuff. Made me smile a lot, laugh out loud a few times.
I was interested to see JC seemingly getting something from a canister, oxygen? Or was that his nox kit?
All the Chinese stuff at the end was surely a reference to Covid beginning in China and taking over the world?

Yes it was oxygen (presumably in case they sank!?), I also assumed that was the Chinese stuff at the end was in reference to, although it was a little odd.I was interested to see JC seemingly getting something from a canister, oxygen? Or was that his nox kit?

I thought the China reference was in regards to replacing American stuff, the rise of the Asian century. Hence the MGI was interested to see JC seemingly getting something from a canister, oxygen? Or was that his nox kit?

Those giant American cars are getting very rare, even in America you rarely see them, if at all, these days. Their cars are almost entirely trucks, SUV’s and a bland collection of Nissan/Toyota/Hyundai salons etc. Would be expecting their values to skyrocket, many already are very expensive. A Buick Riviera in hood kick would be £30k+
