What do kids (or ET) have to do with it? It's a 15 rated movie which would probably have been an 18 twenty five years ago. It's a (very) adult love story and I thought a beautiful one at that. The reaction from Screen Unscreen was almost all gushingly positive.

.
Critics loved LaLa Land too for reasons that escape me. Simone earlier in the thread likened it to ET but can't see that either.
I would not want my 15 year old seeing what she does in the bath.
Besides, I was brought up on Stingray...

I likened it to ET.
Alien being chased or captured by authorities.
Someone bonds with or hides it.
It nearly dies.
Authorities step up their chase.
It's released.

Hardly anything new. It was very well made and Michael Shannon was outstanding as the baddie but thought it was a bit meh.

Downsizing

the trailer makes it look interesting,,, it isn't. it is like 2 films stitched together with a blatant yellow
face act added for good measure.

Ferris Buellers Day Off, just finished on itv4. One of my all time favourite films. Just brilliant...
I walked into the lounge to find my wife about to press "Stop recording and delete" on that, as it had come up in the "suggestions" bit of my Virgin TV box...

I thought this was very average and disappointing given the hype that a lot of people gave it and certainly wouldn't give it a second watch. Each to their own. .
